Skoda Sales Performance
Skoda sold 6,886 units in April 2026, marking a 5.7% year-on-year decrease from 7,302 units in April 2025. Month-on-month, sales dropped 13.1% from 7,928 units in March 2026. The Skoda Kylaq remained the brand's top-selling model, with 4,089 units sold. However, this represented a 23.8% year-on-year decline from 5,364 units in April 2025 and a 12.4% drop from 4,670 units in March 2026. The Kylaq accounted for nearly 59% of Skoda's total sales in April.
The recently updated Kushaq showed the strongest growth for Skoda, with sales rising 136.4% year-over-year to 1,851 units, up from 783 units in April 2025.
The Skoda Kushaq contributed 26.9% of Skoda's total sales. However, month-on-month sales for the Kushaq fell 19.8% from 2,307 units in March 2026. The Skoda Slavia sedan recorded 830 units sold, a 20.8% year-on-year decline and a 6.4% drop from the previous month. The updated Kodiaq SUV saw 116 units sold, reflecting an 8.4% year-on-year increase and an 81.3% rise month-on-month.
Volkswagen Sales Overview
Volkswagen India reported sales of 2,828 units in April 2026, a slight 0.8% year-on-year decline from 2,851 units in April 2025. Month-on-month, sales decreased by 8.2% from 3,082 units in March 2026. The facelifted Volkswagen Taigun became the brand's best-selling model, with 1,543 units sold. This marked a 33.6% year-over-year increase from 1,155 units in April 2025 and a 69.9% rise from 908 units in March 2026. The Taigun contributed over 54% of Volkswagen's total monthly sales.
The Virtus sedan experienced a sharp drop in demand, with 1,162 units sold, down 27.6% year-on-year from 1,605 units in April 2025. Month-on-month, Virtus sales declined 42.2% from 2,009 units in March 2026. Volkswagen plans to launch a facelifted Virtus later in the year.
The imported Tayron added 87 units to Volkswagen's sales, while the Tiguan recorded 34 units. Volkswagen Golf sales stood at 2 units in April 2026. Both the Tayron and Tiguan saw lower month-on-month sales compared to March.
SUVs remain the main growth drivers for both Skoda and Volkswagen in India. While sedans like Virtus and Slavia retain a loyal following, market demand continues to shift toward SUVs.
