The history of Czech automakers operating as an independent entity manufacturing across the Indian subcontinent dates back to 2008, when the local assembly of Octavia, was later followed by Citigo. Ever since Skoda Auto India came into existence, it will be the first time in the 25 years of journey across the Indian shores, and 150th globally, the MNC has recorded its highest-ever monthly sales with 7,422 units dispatched from the inventory in March 2025. This sales figure marks an impressive 164% year-on-year (YoY) growth from March 2024, when 2,802 units were sold. Also, March 2025 sales saw a 33% month-on-month (MoM) increase compared to February 2025, when 5,583 units were sold. In the overall figures, the latest in the family “Kylaq” accounts for a significant percentage.
Skoda’s entry into the most competitive SUV space, the sub-4-metre category took place last year with the deliveries commencing from January this year onwards, and within just a few months the smallest Skoda in the lineup has embarked on a milestone of 3,636 units in February, which is followed by a total registration of 15,000 bookings collectively. This record has a major contribution from the successor, the Kushaq, and the Slavia. However, the concentration in comparison remains less than 50%, especially concerning the last month. Additionally, Skoda is eyeing to count on Kylaq’s success with the manufacturing ramp-up to fulfil the remaining orders by May, of the same year.
Remarking the highest sales margin of Skoda Auto India, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India has shared his response adding, "By launching the completely new Kylaq, we dedicated ourselves to a ‘New Era’ in our journey in India. Our sales of 7,422 cars in March 2025 testify to the unfolding of this journey and reflect ongoing planning, efforts, and a strategy designed to bring European technology onto Indian roads on a broader scale. Customer feedback emphasizes that Kylaq offers an outstanding price-value proposition, bringing comfort, space, and safety from a higher segment into the sub-4-metre SUV category. We opted to prolong the introductory prices until the end of April to allow more customers to join and commemorate Kylaq's success."
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of its journey in India as a manufacturer, Skoda Auto India assures to improve the ownership experience with not just the dealership networks, but also at service stations. The company expects initiatives such as digital showrooms, online-only sales, Skoda Service Cam, Anytime Warranty, and Supercare maintenance plans, which aim at offering transparency between hassle-free customer services. Moreover, in steps to support such procedures a 1-Year Complimentary Supercare Package has been announced targeting the new customer base.
Talking of the expansion, the automaker is also looking up to 350 touchpoints from the current 280 achieved in 2021 nationwide. The surging network and favourable maintenance schemes have attracted offerings, which has led to further extensions to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities as well.
Skoda’s remarkable performance in March 2025 establishes a solid foundation for the rest of its silver jubilee year. As long as Skoda keeps its emphasis on value, safety, and customer satisfaction, it will be in a strong position to further strengthen its foothold within the competitive automotive landscape of India. With this, Skoda Auto India targets annual sales reaching about 100,000 units altogether by 2026.
