Tata Motors' car sales performance in October 2024 was mixed, showing both month-over-month (MoM) gains and year-over-year (YoY) decreases. The firm saw a little decline in both domestic and export sales during a difficult market period. Nonetheless, MoM sales indicated a positive rebound, with Tata's top-selling models being the Punch and Nexon.
Domestic Sales Performance
Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales fell by 0.43% from 48,337 units in October 2023 to 48,131 units in October 2024, according to Tata Motors, which reported a small YoY dip in these sales. In spite of this, the business saw significant month-over-month increase, with October 2024 sales up 17.21% over September 2024 sales of 41,064 units. Strong customer interest was maintained by the Punch and Nexon models, which were the key contributors to Tata's domestic sales results.
Export Market Decline
With 292 units exported in October 2024 compared to 300 units in the same month the previous year, Tata Motors had a 2.67% YoY loss in the export category. This decline is a result of persistent issues with the worldwide market that impact Tata's sales abroad.
Sales Update for Electric Vehicles (EV)
Tata Motors, a leader in electric vehicles, also saw a decline in EV sales. EV sales dropped from 5,465 units in October 2023 to 5,355 units in October 2024, a 2.01% decrease. This drop emphasises the necessity of updated tactics in Tata's EV range to satisfy shifting consumer needs.
Total Passenger Vehicle Sales
Category | Oct'23 Sales | Oct'24 Sales | YoY Change |
Domestic PV Sales | 48,337 | 48,131 | -0.42% |
Export Sales | 300 | 292 | -3% |
Electric Vehicle Sales | 5,465 | 5,355 | -2.01% |
Total PV Sales (incl. EVs) | 48,637 | 48,423 | -0.43% |
Sales of all passenger vehicles, including EVs, fell 0.44% year over year to 48,423 units in October 2024 from 48,637 units in the same month the previous year. Tata's MoM increase indicates strong momentum that the business may utilize in the upcoming months, despite the fact that overall data show a modest fall.
In summary, the October 2024 sales report from Tata Motors shows a complicated sales environment. Although year-over-year data shows a little downturn in the domestic, export, and EV sectors, the robust MoM recovery points to a possible upturn soon.
