Tata Motors has introduced new Dark Editions for its popular SUVs, the Harrier and the Safari. These updates follow the recent launch of the Sierra EV and Stealth Editions for other variants. The new Dark Editions target the top-end Fearless Ultra trim of the Harrier and the Accomplished Ultra trim of the Safari, offering a refreshed look and enhanced features.

Dark Edition Pricing and Variants
The Tata Harrier Fearless Ultra Dark Edition is priced between Rs 24.34 lakh and Rs 25.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Safari Accomplished Ultra Dark Edition comes with a price tag ranging from Rs 23.78 lakh to Rs 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers can also opt for a 6-seater captain seat layout in the Safari for an additional Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000.
Design and Styling Updates
The Dark Editions feature a glossy-black exterior paint and all-black interiors, giving both SUVs a more striking appearance. Both models receive larger 19-inch alloy wheels as part of the update. The Harrier previously offered a Red-Dark Edition with red accents, but the new Dark Edition adopts a fully blacked-out theme. The Safari Accomplished Ultra trim also transitions from the Red Dark edition to the new Dark Edition, mirroring the Harrier's changes.
Features and Equipment
The Dark Editions retain all equipment from their respective top-end variants. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, a 14.5-inch Samsung QLED touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a built-in navigation system. Both SUVs offer a memory function for the outside rearview mirror and the driver's seat, along with a smart key entry system.
Additional amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats with memory function for the driver, a 10-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting, and Boss Mode. The Safari also provides captain seats and ventilation for the second row and a powered tailgate.
Safety and Powertrain Options
On the safety front, both SUVs come equipped with seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, and electronic stability programme (ESP).
The Harrier and Safari Dark Editions are available with two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 2-litre diesel. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Market Rivals
The Tata Harrier and Safari compete with models such as the MG Hector, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra Scorpio, and Jeep Compass. The Safari also faces competition from the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Jeep Meridian, and MG Hector Plus.
