Tata Motors, a leading Indian automaker, has expanded its compact SUV lineup with the all-new Punch iCNG variant. Priced at Rs. 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom), this latest addition boasts eco-friendly mobility, impressive performance, and cost-effectiveness, making it an attractive choice for environmentally-conscious buyers.

Twin-Cylinder Technology Enhancing Fuel Efficiency

The highlight of the Punch iCNG lies in Tata's twin-cylinder technology, a smart innovation that replaces the traditional single large CNG tank with two smaller ones. These tanks are thoughtfully placed in the boot's floor well, ensuring adequate space for luggage.

With a combined CNG tank capacity of 60 litres, this SUV offers an impressive claimed range of 400 km in CNG mode. Additionally, the car comes equipped with a 35-litre petrol tank, serving as a reliable backup option when CNG refilling stations are scarce.

Performance and Versatility in Driving Modes

Under the hood, the Punch iCNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This efficient powertrain delivers 86 bhp and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode and 76 bhp and 97 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the SUV offers smooth and responsive drives. Adding versatility, the car offers two driving modes - Eco and City - allowing users to tailor the performance and efficiency to their specific needs.

Distinctive Design with Feature-Packed Interiors

Visually, the Punch iCNG closely resembles its standard counterpart, except for the notable 'iCNG' badge on the tailgate. The SUV retains all the attractive features of the regular model, including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, roof rails, and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a premium Harman sound system and convenient steering-mounted controls. Safety remains a priority, as the car is equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, and rear parking sensors.

Eco-Friendly SUV for Discerning Customers

The Punch iCNG is a compelling choice for customers seeking an affordable, spacious, and eco-friendly SUV that caters to both petrol and CNG options. In the competitive segment, it competes with other CNG-powered cars like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG and Hyundai Santro CNG.

Tata Motors continues its commitment to sustainability by planning to introduce more CNG variants of existing models in the future, catering to the growing demand for alternative fuels across the country.
