Tata Motors

Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its portfolio in India. Based on this, we have seen the Tata Punch facelift pre-developed model many times while testing. This upcoming model is expected to be launched later this year. Before its official debut, we have witnessed a number of updates expected to be offered by this car. Once again, the Tata Punch facelift edition has been spotted while testing with a new rear light update, signalling a transformation from the previous one.

In recent images that have surfaced on the internet, we can see that the Tata Punch facelift has been spied testing with an all-new rear lighting configuration, which looks similar to the Tata Altorz hatchback. These spy shots signify connected LED taillights and a reworked rear design, setting the stage for Tata Motors’ next big launch in an increasingly competitive segment.

Expected Refreshed Front Design

The latest spy shots revealed a heavily camouflaged Punch prototype featuring connected LED taillights. With the new rear design, we can expect significant changes in the front design of the car as well. The front fascia of the car might offer a newly sculpted grille integrated with sleeker LED DRLs and reimagined headlamp clusters inspired by the Punch EV.

The boxy silhouette, squared-off wheel arches, and robust roof rails maintain the Punch’s SUV appeal, while the alloy designs add a sporty touch. While looking at the side profile of the car, larger cladding and a panel with huge, striking, angular lines resemble the same form as the previous generation model. The SUV could be similar to the Punch EV in its design language. However, the design was not linear, and visibility was subtle due to heavy camouflage.

Altroz-Inspired Rear Design

Tata Punch Facelift
While looking at the recent spy shots, the most significant update is at the rear profile of the car. Despite heavy camouflage, the rear part of the car was much more visible. We can easily see in the image that the rear will now have better-connected LED taillights inspired by the Tata Altroz rear design. This lighting signature will enhance the SUV’s presence and modernize its visual identity.

The rear bumper appears mildly redesigned while retaining Punch’s upright profile. Other notable features might be added, such as dual parking sensors and a 360-degree camera for security purposes.

Premium Cabin and Features Refined

Tata Punch Interiors

Unlike its exterior design, the cabin of the Tata Punch facelift is expected to bring a host of upgrades. The most notable update will be the new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. The interior benefits include a free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system for enhanced usability. This instrument cluster might be the same as we get in other Tata Punch variants.

The brand can also provide a few subtle advanced features, such as wireless charging, voice-assisted sunroof, and touch-based climate controls, which offer convenience and luxury. For safety, the Tata Punch will come with 6 airbags as standard, along with enhanced ESP across the trim levels. With an additional cost, the Punch might provide customer-centric features like front ventilated seats and a blind spot monitor.

Powertrain Remains The Same

Tata Punch Engine

Under the hood, the Tata Punch facelift is expected to receive the same powertrain unit as its predecessor. The vehicle will be powered by a 1.2L Revotron petrol engine that generates 87.8 HP with 115 Nm of peak torque. This robust engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. However, a 5-speed AMT setup is also available as an option.

For budget-friendly buyers, the upcoming Punch facelift will also offer a CNG variant that belts out 73.5 HP of power and 103 Nm of torque. The Punch facelift is projected to launch by the end of 2025, with prices likely ranging from Rs 6.3 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Conclusion

The Tata Punch facelift’s Altroz-style rear lights and tech-loaded cabin set a benchmark for small SUVs, targeting style-conscious and tech-savvy Indian buyers. With a modern design and significant feature upgrades, Tata Motors is making Punch a more value-for-money car that offers bold aesthetics with contemporary tech for discerning Indian buyers.
