In a recent report, Tata Motors set the Indian automotive landscape abuzz by announcing that it will pass on the full benefits of the recent GST reduction to all of its cars in the portfolio, beginning September 22, 2025. This sudden bold move comes when the festive season is at the door.
With such a decision, the brand might be able to achieve the upward trajectory of sales figures and meet the needs, making personal mobility more accessible and providing better financial solutions to millions of Indian customers who aspire to own a beloved family car. GST Reform: A New Chapter for Automobiles
With the implementation of the latest GST reforms under the revamped categorized tax under the 56th GST Council Meeting in the parliament. The tax rates for small or entry-level models and SUVs have been categorized under two tax slabs—5% and 18%. This eventually reduces the prices of the car for customers.
Under the new policy, petrol and diesel vehicles with engine capacities below and up to 1,200 cc and 1,500 cc, respectively, along with lengths under 4 meters, are now applicable for just 18% GST, making compact and entry-level models especially more affordable. However, models surpassing all these engine specifications and dimensions will face a flat 40% GST rate.

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors, said, “The reduction in GST on passenger vehicles with effect from September 22, 2025, is a progressive and timely decision that will make personal mobility more accessible for millions of people in India.”
He later added, “This will make our popular range of cars and SUVs even more accessible across the segments, enabling first-time buyers and accelerating the shift towards new-age mobility for a wider spectrum of customers.”

As per the latest GST reforms, the potential price reductions on Tata Motors cars and SUVs, with effect from September 22, 2025, will be as follows:
