Both variants have identical exteriors. They feature a connected LED light bar, slim LED headlamps, and a clean, aerodynamic bumper. The side profile shows a coupe-like sloping roofline, black cladding around the wheel arches and side skirts, flush-type door handles, and 19-inch 'Crossflow' alloy wheels with grey aero covers. At the rear, both have connected LED tail lamps, an integrated boot spoiler, and a minimalist bumper with black cladding.

Tesla has also introduced a long-wheelbase version of the Model Y, which offers a different alloy wheel design, a longer wheelbase, and increased road presence. However, the standard and Long Range variants remain visually identical.

Interior and Features

Inside, both variants follow Tesla's minimalist cabin philosophy. Most controls are managed through a large central touchscreen. The dashboard features slim AC vents, a three-spoke steering wheel, and ambient lighting. The centre console includes storage space, dual wireless charging pads, and a large armrest. A full glass roof is standard, making the cabin bright and airy.

Rear passengers benefit from sliding and reclining seats, dedicated AC vents, and a separate rear touchscreen. Both variants come with a standard all-black interior, with an optional dual-tone black and grey scheme available for Rs 95,000. Premium materials and comfortable seating are standard across both variants.

Feature lists are nearly identical. Both offer a 16-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch rear passenger display, a 9-speaker audio system, powered and ventilated front seats, powered rear seats, ambient lighting, connected car technology, dual wireless phone chargers, and power-adjustable AC vents. The Long Range variant does not add extra features over the standard Premium RWD.

Safety and Technology

Both variants are equally equipped for safety. They include multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, a 360-degree camera system, ADAS, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. Tesla's Full Self Driving package is available as an optional extra for Rs 6 lakh and is expected to become functional through a future software update.

Performance and Range Comparison

The main difference between the two variants is the driving range. The Long Range variant offers a claimed 162 km more range than the standard Premium RWD. Acceleration also improves slightly, with the Long Range reaching 0–100 kmph in 5.6 seconds compared to 5.9 seconds for the standard variant. Tesla does not disclose battery capacity or power output for the Indian market.

For city use, the standard variant's 500 km claimed range should suffice. The Long Range variant is more suitable for frequent highway trips or long intercity drives, where the extra range and marginally quicker acceleration are beneficial. However, the Rs 8 lakh premium may only be justified for buyers who need extended range regularly.
