Exterior and Interior Updates
The ninth-generation Hilux will feature a revised front fascia. The large hexagonal grille will be replaced by a body-coloured honeycomb pattern. In profile, the Hilux will retain a similar look to its predecessor, with smooth door finishes and squared-off wheel arches. However, it will receive a new set of alloy wheels. The rear will see changes to the bumper and LED taillamps. The Toyota badge may be replaced by 'Toyota' lettering on the tailgate.
Inside, the new Hilux will offer a modern cabin with dual 12.3-inch displays. The dashboard will have a new design and a new steering wheel. The centre console will also be revised. Toyota will retain physical buttons for key functions. Expected features include a 360-degree camera, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), powered and ventilated front seats, and more.
Powertrain and Technology
The ninth-generation Hilux is likely to continue with the current 2.8-litre diesel engine. This engine produces 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Power will be delivered to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. Toyota may also introduce a 48V mild-hybrid system to this engine. This system is currently available on the Fortuner Neo Drive variant.
At its global reveal, Toyota introduced the first electric version of the Hilux. The Hilux EV features a 59.2 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup. However, Toyota has not confirmed if the Hilux EV will be launched in India.
