Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Recalled; Approximately 1,000 units Affected

Toyota recalled 1,000 units of its Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Recall is due to a Defective seat belt shoulder adjuster which could be the reason for seat belt malfunction.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Seat Belt Defect

The seat belt shoulder height adjuster came under suspicion due to a defect in one of the child's parts which if not fixed, could lead to the seat belt malfunctioning. However, as of date, there hasn’t been any report of failure of the damaged part.

In order to replace the faulty part, the company is likely to contact the owners of affected vehicles, the part will be replaced by the company at their authorized service outlets.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is equipped with two engines - a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol with mild-hybrid that’s associated with either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic; and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol-hybrid associated with an e-CVT (planetary gearbox).

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder mild-hybrid prices range between Rs 10.48 lakh-17.19 lakh including their top spec model being the sole variant to get a manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The hybrid range is priced between Rs 15.11 lakh-18.99 lakh. Toyota is all set to introduce CNG variants in the upcoming days.

Maruti Grand Vitara affected by the Recall

The manufacturing process of Urban Cruiser Hyryder is being executed by Toyota in its plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. Toyota Manufacturers also produce the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the aforementioned plant, which is very much identical in terms of drivetrain, components, and ancillaries to the Toyota. Consequently, this recall is suspected to affect certain models of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara too.
