VinFast, Vietnam's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has appointed Zac Hollis, the former brand director of Skoda Auto India, as its Asia Head. Hollis played a pivotal role in the successful execution of Skoda's India 2.0 strategy and is now set to define VinFast's ambitious EV rollout plan in India.
Who is Zac Hollis?
Zac Hollis, automotive industry veteran, known for his transformative leadership, has held key roles in Europe and Asia. Notably, as Skoda Auto India's Sales, Service, and Marketing Director, he spearheaded the INDIA 2.0 project, yielding record-breaking sales in 2022. Under his guidance, the KUSHAQ SUV and SLAVIA sedans, introduced in 2021 and 2022, respectively, contributed to this success. As of January 2024, he has been appointed as the head of VinFast Asia, showcasing his global management expertise.
Hollis to Lead VinFast's $2 Billion India Rollout
Zac Hollis, renowned for his strategic contributions during his time at Skoda Auto India, has taken on a new challenge as he joins VinFast as its Asia Head. VinFast, having recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government for an integrated EV manufacturing plant, aims to make significant strides in the Indian market.
Hollis, having left his position as MG Motor's Prestige Models Operation Director within four months, is expected to play a critical role in defining and implementing VinFast India's $2 billion rollout plan. His experience in overseeing the successful India 2.0 strategy at Skoda positions him as a key asset for VinFast's expansion in one of the world's most dynamic automotive markets.
From India 2.0 to VinFast: A Remarkable Career Journey
Hollis, appointed as Director of Sales, Service, and Marketing at Skoda Auto in September 2018, spent four years in India, contributing significantly to the brand's growth. Under his leadership, Skoda Auto achieved its best volumes and market share in India, earning him appreciation from car owners for his active engagement on social media platforms.
With over two-and-a-half decades of experience in the automotive industry, Hollis previously led Skoda Auto's China sales operation from 2016 to 2018. His diverse experience across Europe and Asia positions him as a seasoned professional for VinFast's ambitious plans in India.
Hollis to Play Crucial Role in Talent Acquisition for VinFast India
Hollis's appointment comes at a crucial point for VinFast, which is gearing up for an aggressive manufacturing plant in India. In addition to overseeing the market entry strategy, Hollis is expected to play a vital role in sourcing top talent for VinFast's India operations. The establishment of an integrated EV plant in Tamil Nadu is projected to create thousands of employment opportunities locally.
The VinFast-Tamil Nadu project, located in Thoothukudi, aims to become a prominent EV production hub with an annual manufacturing capacity of up to 150,000 units. Construction for the factory is set to commence later this year, reinforcing VinFast's commitment to investing up to US$ 2 billion in India.
