VinFast India and BatX Energies Forge Landmark Battery Recycling Partnership
VinFast India has partnered with BatX Energies to implement advanced high-voltage battery recycling and repurposing solutions. This collaboration aims to establish a circular battery ecosystem, ensuring efficient recovery of critical materials.

VinFast India has signed an exclusive partnership deal with BatX Energies to establish battery recycling and repurposing services for VinFast’s upcoming electric vehicle manufacturing operations in India. This is one of the latest agreements, announced on July 11, 2025.
BatX Energies is a leading Indian clean-tech company that established a comprehensive framework for high-voltage battery recycling and repurposing in India. This move will play a significant role in the Indian EV ecosystem. Under the current business partnership with VinFast, BatX will provide high-voltage recycling batteries, battery materials, and repurposing services for the newly developed VinFast factory in Tamil Nadu.
They will also manage the after-sales services and the management of the product. Under this agreement, various critical materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel will be used, which will be reintegrated into the battery production cycle, and then they will be used under VinFast VF6 and VF7’s powertrain.
The agreement still brings much positivity to both organizations in the following ways:
- Efficiently recover and reintegrate critical materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel back into the battery production cycle.
- By this agreement, the brand aims to reduce dependence on mining.
- Significantly lower environmental impact by minimizing hazardous battery waste.
- BatX Energies will also ensure traceability of recovered materials. It will be a crucial factor for transparency and regulatory compliance in the battery value chain.
Driving Localized and Sustainable Solutions

This collaboration will help address the unique challenges and opportunities of India’s rapidly evolving EV landscape. The partnership will extend beyond recycling and repurposing. Some of the key features of such an agreement are as follows.
- Strengthen India’s domestic battery value chain, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the government’s Make in India scheme.
- Deliver scalable solutions that can adapt to the growing volume of end-of-life EV batteries as adoption accelerates nationwide.
- Lay the groundwork for future initiatives, including second-life battery applications, urban mining, and advanced material recovery.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, emphasized the broader vision behind the partnership:
“This partnership with BatX Energies is a meaningful step toward building a sustainable, circular battery ecosystem in India. At VinFast, sustainability goes beyond vehicles—it’s about environmental responsibility across the entire lifecycle. By working with BatX, we aim to reduce resource dependency, support national priorities, and set a new benchmark for responsible innovation in electric mobility.”
Utkarsh Singh, CEO of BatX Energies, echoed this sentiment:
“Our partnership with VinFast reflects a shared belief in responsible innovation and resource circularity to strengthen the EV battery value chain. By enabling sustainable end-of-life solutions for EV batteries, we are building infrastructure that can grow with the industry and create a lasting environmental impact.”
VinFast’s Ambitions in India
VinFast’s entry into India is marked by a USD 500 million investment in a manufacturing plant at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The company has decided to expand its portfolio beyond the launch of VF6 and VF7 electric vehicles. By the end of 2025, the company has targeted to produce 150,000 EVs for both domestic sales and export vehicles to the Middle East and Africa.
Conclusion
As we can see from the upward trajectory in sales of electric vehicles, VinFast might be making a bold move with better battery production and driving range. However, in partnership with BatX, the company will try to deliver few environmental benefits and help to create a battery production ecosystem for the future.
