VinFast is moving forward with the launch of its latest two new models, the VF6 and VF7, in India. Nonetheless, the company plans to rank among India's top EV producers, right behind Tata and MG. This initiative seems to be ready after the execution of the recent patent filing for its entry-level EV in the Minio Green color scheme.

This strategic move signifies the plans of VinFast to compete in India’s burgeoning entry-level EV segment, which currently has limited offerings. The Minio Green represents a practical, affordable option tailored for urban commuting and will be one of the biggest rivals to the MG Comet EV. Let’s check out the possible details of how this car might look.

Minio Green: Compact Design and Functional Simplicity

The upcoming Minio Green will be a compact 3-door electric hatchback that will measure around 3000 mm in length and offer a wheelbase of 2065 mm. These dimensions make it slightly longer than the previous models of the Hyundai Santro. The car will give a tough fight to its only rival, the MG Comet, in the supermini EV car segment in India.

While looking at the car, the car looked boxy and small, characterized by tall-boy elements. The front fascia of the car offers round LED headlights, backed-out rear sections, and forged 13-inch steel wheels. The side profile of the car bears a slight resemblance to the early days of the Hyundai Santro model.

Expected Interiors

Interiors

From the inside, the car will echo with a no-frills philosophy. The cabin will have ergonomic controls made of specific plastic materials and basic leather upholstery. Chrome accents on the interior would be used sparingly when taking the price into account. The dashboard will have a virtual instrument cluster and two speakers connected to an FM radio.

For safety and convenience, the car might offer essential features like multiple airbags, traction control, ABS, ESP with EBD, Hill Control Assist, and a few standard features from the VF6 or VF7.

Battery, Range, and Performance

The patent VinFast’s Minio Green will be powered by a 14.7 kWh battery pack configured with a rear-mounted electric motor that would generate 27 HP and 65 Nm of torque. The brand claimed that the car will be able to cover a distance of 170 km on a single charge. The car’s top speed is estimated to be about 80 kmph.

Conclusion

The patent registration of VinFast Minio Green underscores VinFast’s ambition to tap the entry-level EV segment. The entry-level 3-door compact EV car has only one option under the portfolio, and that's the MG Comet EV. While the Minio Green is expected to be competitively priced and aimed predominantly at commercial buyers.
