Yamaha has finally launched their most talked product the EC-06 in the Indian market, priced at Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-show). Brands first EV scooter, with this launch Yamaha has entered in the consistently growing electric scooter space. The EC-06 is designed for urban riders and daily usage purposes focusing on practicality over performance. The eclectic scooter comes equipped with several modern amenities and features that are well suited for Indian buyers, so let's discuss the top five highlights of the Yamaha EC-06.

Starting the list with the biggest highlight of the scooter that is the range it promises, the EC-06 is equipped with a 4kWh fixed battery pack that can provide you a claimed range of 169km on a solitary charge, which is an impressive number in this category though it may vary in real life conditions and riding habit. As for the motor setup it gets an IPMSM electric motor that puts up a maximum power of 6.7kW and 26Nm of torque, with this setup the scooter can touch a top speed of 79kmph that seems good enough for urban rides.

The EC-06 features a simple and clean design with smooth body panels, boxy LED headlamp and well-balanced proportions. The upright stance, flat seat and wide floorboard highlight everyday usability of the scooter. Moreover, minimal colours and graphics compliment the clean finish giving the scooter an elegant and urban ready presence.

Next up we have the list of the features that the brand has offered with their first ever electric scooter. The Yamaha EC-06 comes equipped with a colour LCD instrument console that shows all essential information such as speed, battery status, range and ride data. Moreover, it gets three riding modes– Eco, Standard and Power letting riders to balance between performance and efficiency. The scooter also has a reverse mode that helps riders in tight parking situations. As for the charging, the scooter can charge from 0 to 80 percent in eight hours using a standard home charger and 10 hours to get 0 to 100 percent.

At its core the EC-06 uses a steel frame supported by front suspension and dual rear shock absorbers. It rides on 110/80 14 and 120/70 14 front and rear tyre respectively, Braking duty is handled by disc at both ends sized 200mm both complemented with Combi Brake System.

Another highlight of the EC-06 is its underseat storage underlining Yamaha’s focus on practicality over performance, usually EV scooters are not expected to have much underseat storage, but the EC-06 provides you with decent 24.5-litre storage that can easily fit a helmet and a backpack.
