New Renault Austral Spotted Testing In India Sans Camouflage; Spied Images Revealed

Renault India is gearing up to strengthen its product range once again and spy images of its expected upcoming models have started surfacing on the internet. A test mule of the new Renault Austral which already is on sale in some of the overseas markets, has been spotted testing in India sans camouflage. We already know that the all-new Renault Duster is expected to go on sale in India soon. 

If the 2024 Renault Austral SUV too makes it way to our shores, it will be positioned above the new Duster SUV. However, Renault hasn’t confirmed any news regarding the same and we expect it take the completely knocked down (CKD) route, if it gets introduced to our market.

The 2024 Renault Austral is a C-Segment SUV sold in the European market and is positioned above the Renault Captur.  In terms of dimensions, the Renault Austral fares against the likes of the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector among others. That said, it is equipped with a comparatively smaller 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol strong hybrid powertrain. It’s a similar setup to what we have already seen on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder in the Indian market.

Moving forward, some of the design elements are quite apparent on the test mule. For instance, it retains its curvy and urban silhouette, and features the new Renault logo. Rear design elements like LED taillights and a beefier bumper are clearly visible, but we don’t have a view of the front-end design. Having said that, going by the global model, we can safely expect a similar rounded front end featuring a sculpted hood and swept back LED headlights with daytime running lights (DRLs).

The 2024 Renault Austral is a five-seater SUV and on the inside, expect to see a contemporary interior with genuine use of soft touch upholstery on the dashboard top and door armrests along with frequently touched surfaces. Moreover, it is also likely to offer all modern tech and features including a touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, power adjustable front driver seat, ventilated front row seats, auto climate control, panoramic sunroof and ADAS features among others.
