First things first, do check your engine oil regularly. Although many modern-day cars come with an engine replacement interval of 10,000km or more. Low engine oil levels can be harmful to internal parts of the engine which eventually will lead to a complete breakdown of the car. So, the question you would be thinking right now is, “Man, then how to check the engine oil?” Well, we have the answer to it. Few simple steps to follow.

### 1. Let your engine cool down: 
A cool-down period of 10 minutes will do good and the reason I am asking you to not do anything while the engine is spitting fire is that all the oil from various parts of the engine collects in the lower oil pan when the engine is back to normal, by normal I mean its cool. But, I would suggest you check the owner’s manual because some car manufacturers do not suggest checking the oil level on cold engines. Well, diversity is always there eh. 

### 2. Park the car on the leveled ground:
This should not come as a surprise. Avoid a ramp or an uneven patch of road as even a slight tilt in the car’s position can display the wrong level of engine oil which eventually will make you seem satisfied but, hey, your car would definitely throw some tantrums later on. I hope you get that!!

### 3. Take out the yellow dipstick from the engine compartment:
Open the bonnet and check for a yellow-colored dipstick cap which usually is in the center of the engine compartment. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it off with a clean piece of clothing and I request you to kindly make sure that the cloth is not soiled and does not have any moisture or dirt on it as these are dangerous for the internals of your prized vehicle. 

### 4. Put it back and take it out again to notice the oil mark:
This would be easy for everyone right, sounds familiar eh. Well, once wiping it clean, do put it back completely. Wait for a second and pull it out. Yes, I am talking about the dipstick inside the oil chamber. Notice the oil mark which should ideally be between the minimum and maximum markings. The dip-stick usually has indicators marked as L (low) and H (high). 

If the level is low do top up the engine oil. Make sure that you are using the same grade oil so as to avoid any harm to the engine parts. Never top up the oil over the recommended level. Excess of everything is bad, ain’t it fellas!!

### 5. Top up the engine oil and repeat the process:
Topping up the oil can be done via the oil filler cap which is located near the dipstick cap. One has to be careful and patient while topping up the oil and do not spill it over other parts of the engine. Admire your car’s engine while waiting for a few minutes so that the oil can settle as oil does take a little time to settle due to it being viscous.

Also recommended for you is to check the oil level once every few weeks or if you are going for a long road journey. It will hardly take a minute or so but that one minute can make your journey smooth and your money- within your wallet.

Before any extended road trips or journeys and I would go on to recommend, once a month, do try to check the tire-air pressure using an accurate tire-pressure gauge to check the inflation pressure in each tire, including the spare. Make sure you are using this when the tires are cold (before the vehicle has been driven or it has been like 3 to 4 hours since you took it for a spin around the corner). Use the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle’s manufacturer, not the maximum pressure embossed on the tire’s sidewall.

You will find the recommended pressure on a placard on the front door jamb, in the glove compartment, or the secret would more likely be revealed in the owner’s manual. I will also recommend, like many experts, to inspect tires for abnormal or uneven wear, cuts, and sidewall bulges you can see.

This is a huge change for a brand that could sell only 5,448 cars in the first eight months of the current fiscal. According to sources, the final number of bookings could be higher than 30,000. One of the reasons for the increasing popularity of the car is that the customers are seeing it as value for money, as the car offers benefits and features of its rivals at a lesser cost. The cost of Magnite is INR 4.99 lakh, which is far less than Hyundai Venue’s INR 6.75 lakh and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s INR 7.34 lakh ( in Delhi).

One of the key features of the car is its 360-degree camera, which is usually present only in the C-segment vehicles. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is usually not available at this price range. The car was in great demand on the last day of the introductory price offer of INR 4.99 Lakh. Magnite is estimated to be the most booked vehicle of 2020. The increased number of bookings could also lead to the car being sold out for 2021. If this happens, Nissan India will have to increase the production at its Chennai plant. Tata Motors has announced its future plans around affordable electric mobility and said that it plans to produce its green cars at a price not more than 15-20 higher than the conventional petrol and diesel vehicles. It has also planned to offer a battery range at least in excess of 200 km on a single charge. This statement came soon after a high demand for products like Tata Tiago mini, Tata Nexon compact SUV and Tata Altroz hatch. The brand is confident that its overall monthly sales will be at least in excess of 22,000 units, making the company its third position behind Hyundai and Maruti.

In a discussion with TOI, Shailesh Chandra, president of Tata Motors passenger vehicles business unit said that the brand coming back to the third position in the Indian market has not happened by accident. They have recorded that the sales value touched the highest mark in the past eight years during the last few months. As a result, the company gained nearly 300 basis points (100bps = 1 percentage point) in market share, which levelled up from around 4.7 per cent last year to about 7.7 per cent now. He was confident that with the same pace the company will reach 10 per cent share soon with new products. Therefore, the company is working on getting in newer products and focusing more on its electric space. 

Chandra said that Tata Motors and group companies such as Tata AutoComp (battery packs for EVs), Tata Power (for charging infra), and Tata Chemicals (lithium-ion battery cells) are together working to provide an eco-system for people looking to buy electric cars. He said that electric vehicles are the main focus of the company. In the last three years, the brand has successfully managed to establish themselves as frontrunners in the EV market. Tata Motors has now manufactured electric versions of the Tigor sedan that has a range of 312km single-charge, which has a cost of more than Rs 9.6 lakh in Delhi. Another EV is the Nexon SUV, which has a range of 312km on a single charge and has been priced more than Rs 14 lakh in Delhi. It is also being said that the brand will launch electric versions of the Altroz, as well as, the Harrier SUV.

According to Chandra, volumes have begun to come in as there are more practical benefits of these EVs. If a person drives 10,000-12,000 km on a yearly basis, then they will save over Rs 50,000 on operating costs. After four years, they can save around Rs 2.5 lakh than what they would have spent on petrol or a diesel car. With decent performance and additional assurances such as an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery as well as the motor means that the brand is ahead of its rivals. There is a possibility that Tata is now working on a complete range of only-electric vehicles that will be seen in the market in the upcoming years.

Maruti Suzuki India made an announcement that the Swift hatchback has made a new record of 23 lakh unit sales. The milestone has been achieved in 15 years since the first-gen Swift came in the market in the year 2005. This car played an important role in changing the fortune of the carmaker when it was difficult for the brand to sell an ageing range of Maruti cars. The hatchback has been one of the top-sellers for the Indo-Japanese carmaker since it was introduced. The current generation Swift was first introduced in the Indian market at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Shashank Srivastava, the Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, commented on this achievement by saying that Maruti Suzuki Swift has over 2.3 million happy customers and has also been the top-selling premium hatchback in India for the past 15 years. Even though there was a negative impact of COVID-19, the car sold over 160,700 units in the year 2020, which helped the company to become the top brand in terms of orders. He further said that the brand wants to thank its loyal customers for their constant support and trust in Swift. He said that he has confidence that with continuous customer support Swift will achieve many more milestones in the future as well.

Initially, the brand was able to achieve 5 lakh sales milestone for Maruti Suzuki Swift in 5-years, but later the car achieved the next 5-lakh sales in just a span of 3 years. The Maruti Swift announced 15 lakh sales in the year 2016, and the brand has taken four years to achieve the 23 lakh sales mark. The Maruti Suzuki Swift comes in the compact hatchback category, and mainly competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. Last year Maruti had sold 160,700 units of the Swift. Hyundai sold around 82,000 units of the Grand i10 hatchback. Ford, on the other hand, was able to sell only 2,600 units of the Figo hatchback in the year 2020.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift comes in petrol, as well as, diesel options. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre K12 4-litre engine that produces 82 bhp of max power and 113 Nm of peak power. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder DDiS engine that produces 74 bhp of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 5-speed automatic unit as optional. According to the brand, the petrol version returns 22 kmpl of mileage while the diesel model offers 28.4 kmpl.

Tata Motors has announced a price hike of up to ₹ 26,000 across its various model range. This hike in the price of the cars will start from today and will be different for different models. The company had already announced a price hike on its commercial vehicles last month and the current increase has been announced only on its passenger vehicle range. Hike in the prices of vehicles happens in the auto industry at the beginning of every year due to various reasons. The increase in the cost of materials regulates the prices and then there are other factors like an increase in the price of diesel that affects the transportation cost and salary revisions in the company. In an official statement, the company said that rising costs of input and material costs of steel, semi-conductors, as well as, the precious metals have compelled the brand to distribute some of the cost to customers.

Demand for passenger vehicle range of Tata Motors including cars and SUVs have grown by 39 per cent in the first three quarters of FY21 as compared to the demand in FY20 during the same period. Speaking of the third quarter of FY21, the brand also recorded its highest sales in the last 33 quarters and is now working on liquidating the supply chain and increase its output to meet the increased demand.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Price Hike From January 2021 

2021 has brought a lot of new car launches to the country. Below given is a list of all Upcoming SUV Cars in India which are expected to launch in India in the year 2021. Some of these popular upcoming SUVs include Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-pace, Force Motors Gurkha, Tata Safari and Mercedes-Benz GLA 2020.

**Audi e-tron**

Audi has recently unveiled the e-tron 50 that comes with a smaller 71kWh battery pack, which produces 312PS of maximum power and 540Nm of peak torque. It has a range of 300km, and it reached from 0 to 100kmph in 7 seconds. It gets most of the features with Quattro all-wheel-drive and all-wheel-steering. The price of the car has not been announced yet and Audi might offer the e-tron 50 in India soon. Audi has officially showcased the e-tron SUV in India. The SUV will be the same as the one sold in other countries and will come to India via the CBU route. It is expected to be launched at a price of Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom pan India). The e-tron gets power from two electric engines that drive all four wheels. It produces a combined output of 360PS. It also comes with a Boost mode, which produces up to 408PS and reached 0-100kmph by 0.9 seconds. The electric motors are powered by a 95kWH battery pack and the car can go 400kms in a full charge. 

**Force Motors Gurkha**

Force Motors showcased the BS6 Gurkha SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The domestic off-roader now comes with a BS6 engine that produces 90PS of maximum power and 280Nm of peak torque. It now has a revised front and rear fascia, as well as, the government-mandated safety features. The Gurkha that as showcased was the three-door variant but the five-door variant is expected to have similar styling. Look-wise, the Gurkha has received subtle updated. It now comes with new bumpers, a revised grille, and halo LED DRLs headlamps for an old-school look. At the rear, the Gurkha gets revised taillamps and a redesigned bumper. Gurkha was earlier available with a 2.2-litre and a 2.6-litre BS4 engine. The 2.6-litre engine has now got the BS6 update. It has 90PS of max power and 280Nm of peak torque and comes mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. For safety features, the SUV comes with ABS, driver and passenger airbags, and rear parking sensors. For off-roading abilities, its 5-speed manual gearbox is paired with a low-range transfer case. The suspension comes with coil springs and an independent setup in the front. A rigid live axle can be seen at the rear. Apart from Gurkha, Force Motors also unveiled the Gurkha customized, which is meant for off-roading. It comes with larger tyres, a wider stance, raised suspension, and a winch. The 2020 Force Gurkha competes with the new-gen Thar and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

**Mercedes-Benz GLA 2020**

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2020 GLA-Class compact luxury SUV in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new GLA comes with a wider and taller stance than its previous version. On the inside, the car gets a two-part infotainment touchscreen. The new 2.0-litre BS6 compliant engines will be also shared with the A-Class and CLA sedans. The price range will probably start from Rs 43 lakh.

**Tata Safari**

Tata Motors is aiming to launch the Safari on February 22. Pre-launch bookings have also started for a token amount of Rs 30,000. Tata Safari has also started test drives. This 7-seater SUV is based on Tata Harrier. The Tata Safari SUV is based on Land Rover’s D8 platform and it will come with a diesel engine and front-wheel drivetrain. The Safari can be purchased as a 6-seater or a 7-seater SUV. It’s likely to have a price range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 21 lakh.

**Citroen C5 Aircross**

Citroen C5 Aircross will be launched soon in the country and the pre-launch bookings for the SUV have been planned to start on March 1. The SUV gets its power from a 177PS 2.0-litre diesel engine. Citroen C5 Aircross will be offered in two variants, which are Feel and Shine. The car is expected to fall between a price range from Rs 28 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will give competition to the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, and the 5-seater Volkswagen Tiguan facelift.

**MG RX5**

The MG RX5 prices are expected to start from Rs 14 lakh. Price-wise, the MG RX5 will compete with Hyundai Creta, the Jeep Compass, and the Mahindra XUV500. Speaking of the size, this car is a little bit bigger than the Creta, and around the same size as the XUV. For the engine, MG Motor India might provide the RX5 with the 2.0-litre diesel engine that's also present in the Jeep Compass. The engine produces 173PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque for the Jeep, and the RX5 is also expected to give similar performance. 

**Mahindra XUV500 2021**

The second-gen Mahindra XUV500 has revealed its final design touches such as new headlamps and the new six-slat grille. However, the main highlight of the car is at the rear as the XUV500 now comes with wrap-around LED tail lamps. It also looks sleeker as the flared wheel arches of the current-gen model are not present anymore. The second-gen XUV500 will probably reach the showrooms in the first half of the year 2021. The current  XUV500 is priced from Rs 13.52 lakh to Rs 19.27 lakh (ex-showroom) and it is expected that the new-gen model will be priced in the same manner. The second-gen XUV500 will compete against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector/ Hector Plus, Tata Harrier, and the Tata Gravitas.

**Jaguar I-Pace**

The first all-electric SUV from Jaguar, which is the I-Pace, will be launched on March 9 in India. This SUV will be getting its power from the two electric motors producing 400PS of max power and 696Nm of peak torque, backed up by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery. It gives a WLTP-claimed range of 470 km. Tata Power will manage the charging solutions for the Jaguar I-Pace. The electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds. It car will come in three variants, which are the S, SE and HSE. The price of Jaguar I-Pace is expected to start from Rs 1 crore. Pre-launch bookings are underway since November. This car will compete against the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Audi e-tron.

**Audi Q3 2021**

Audi has unveiled the Q3 Sportback coupe-SUV, which is sportier-looking and comes with a sloping roofline. It also has a slick look and a redesigned boot lid. The brand has offered two engines with the Q3 Sportback, which are the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol and the 2.0-litre TDI diesel. The car is set to hit the market in Europe from September. When launched, it will be priced starting at Rs 35.20 lakh approx for the 35 TDI S tronic and around Rs 39.73 lakh for the 45 TFSI quattro S tronic.

Audi has recently unveiled the 2020 SQ7. It comes equipped with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine with an electronically powered compressor (EPC). It produces a maximum power output of 435PS and a peak torque 900Nm. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic. The SQ7 goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. It also has the S-specific adaptive air suspension, as well as, progressive steering wheel for an upgraded experience while driving.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been updated with cosmetic changes and additional features inside the cabin. The vehicle comes in nine different trims and is available in petrol option only. The vehicle is available in five colour options. Maruti Baleno now comes with a revised bumper which has a wider centre air-dam. It also has air ducts on the sides that are surrounded by the C-shaped profile. The new grille comes with a three-dimensional detailing and has been changed a little bit to make the face look wider. The vehicle also gets two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. Baleno interiors have been upgraded to black colour with premium blue detailing, which gives a fresh look. 

The hatchback features a dual-tone seat fabric design and a next-generation Smartplay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and steering mounted controls along with tilt and telescopic adjustments for the steering. The car comes with standard safety features that include ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors. Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes equipped with two 1.2-litre VVT petrol engines and a 1.2L Dualjet, Dual VVT petrol engine options producing maximum outputs of 81bhp and 88 BHP respectively. Both the engines get a five-speed manual transmission and a CVT option as well. Baleno is another amazing car from Maruti. It has good performance, well-designed exteriors, ample space in the cabin, which is also packed with features.
