If you want more power, there's a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine available in two outputs: 190 horsepower and 280 horsepower. The 190-horsepower version has 320Nm of torque and can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds. The 280 horsepower version is the fastest and most powerful engine in the Superb range, with 350Nm of torque, all-wheel drive, and a DSG gearbox. It can sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 5.3 seconds. However, it's also the most expensive and thirsty option.

Now, let's move on to the diesel engines. The Superb offers a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with two outputs: 150 horsepower and 200 horsepower. The 150-horsepower version strikes a good balance between performance and fuel economy, and it's the popular choice among buyers. It has 360Nm of torque and can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 9.1 seconds, whether you prefer a manual or a DSG gearbox. It's also the most fuel-efficient engine in the range, with a claimed fuel consumption of up to 60 miles per gallon.

The 200-horsepower version of the 2.0-litre TDI engine is more powerful, with 400Nm of torque and a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of 7.9 seconds (7.3 seconds with four-wheel drive). It's only available with a DSG gearbox, and although it's not as refined as the lower-powered diesel, it offers a bit more oomph. However, it is pricier to buy and run compared to the 150-horsepower version.

Now, let's talk about the plug-in hybrid engine. The Superb iV is the plug-in hybrid version of the Superb, which combines a 1.4-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery pack. This gives it a total output of 218 horsepower, making it quite quick. 

It can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds, thanks to the instant response and punchy performance of the electric motor. The Superb iV can also run on electric power alone for up to 35 miles, which means you can enjoy zero-emission driving in urban areas and save on running costs for short trips.

The Superb iV comes with a six-speed DSG gearbox that works seamlessly with the hybrid system to optimize power distribution between the engine and the electric motor. It also offers different driving modes, such as Hybrid, E-mode, and Sport, so you can choose the level of performance and efficiency that suits your preferences.
