Against the Trend MG Hikes the Price for Hector and Hector Plus: June 2024

Key Highlights:

• MG Hector and Hector Plus prices have been increased in June 2024, with hikes ranging from Rs 16,000 to Rs 30,000 depending on the variant.
• The base Style 1.5-litre petrol MT variant of the Hector remains unchanged at Rs 13.99 lakh, while the highest hike is seen in the Savvy Pro 1.5-litre CVT variant at Rs 22.17 lakh.
• Hector Plus models, both petrol and diesel, have seen significant price increases, with the highest rise for diesel models at Rs 30,000, bringing the base model to Rs 17.30 lakh.

JSW MG Motor India has yet again revised the prices for MG Hector and Hector Plus models which was done in June 2024. The percentage implementation of the price increase differs with the different variants with some variants getting a relatively higher increase compared to the others. The revised pricing for the above particular models of these MG are indicated below.

MG Hector New Price List: June 2024

The prices of MG Hector petrol variants have seen an increase ranging from Rs 16,000 to Rs 22,000, except for the base Style 1.5-litre petrol MT which remains at Rs 13.99 lakh. The Shine Pro 1.5-litre petrol MT variant received the least hike of Rs 16,000, with a new starting price of Rs 16.16 lakh. The Hector petrol CVT range now starts at Rs 17.17 lakh, with the Shine Pro 1.5-litre CVT variant witnessing a price increase of Rs 17,000.

The petrol variants of the MG Hector have witnessed a significant price hike, starting from Rs 16,000 going up to Rs 22,000. The maximum increase of Rs 22,000 was seen in the Savvy Pro 1.5-litre CVT variant, which is now priced at Rs 22.17 lakh from the earlier Rs 21.95 lakh. The Blackstorm 1.5-litre CVT variant also sees a substantial hike of Rs 21,000, now with a starting price of Rs 21.53 lakh. However, price of the base-model (Style 1.5-litre petrol MT) remains the same.

As for the diesel variants, the base Style 2.0-litre MT and the Smart Pro 2.0-litre MT retain their previous prices of Rs 17.30 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively. The Shine Pro 2.0-litre MT has witnessed the lowest hike of Rs 18,000, now priced at Rs 17.88 lakh. The Sharp Pro MT and Blackstorm MT variants have received the highest increase of Rs 22,000, with new prices set at Rs 21.92 lakh and Rs 22.24 lakh, respectively.

MG Motor had reduced the prices of Hector twice in the last two-quarters of FY23-24, resulting in a total price drop of Rs 95,000. Earlier in March 2024, the company introduced two new variants, Shine Pro and Select Pro, to the Hector lineup. However, with the latest price hike, the company has partially offset the previous price reductions.

MG Hector Plus New Price List: June 2024

For the MG Hector Plus, petrol manual transmission variants witnessed a substantial price escalation ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 23,000. The continuously variable transmission petrol models experienced a heftier surge, with prices climbing between Rs 24,000 and Rs 25,000. Diesel variants of the Hector Plus also bore the brunt of the price augmentation, witnessing an increase spanning Rs 20,000 to a considerable Rs 30,000.

The MG Hector Plus Select Pro 7-seater petrol MT variant has got a price hike of Rs 20,000 and the new prices start at Rs 18.20 lakh. The new petrol CVT range has started from Rs 21.97 lakh, after a Rs 24,000 increase in the Sharp Pro 7S/6S model price. The Hector Plus Blackstorm 7-seater variant has also been similarly levied with a Rs 24,000 hike and is now priced at Rs 22.29 lakh.

The effective price of the base model Style 6S/7S MT in the diesel segment is now Rs 17.30 lakh, which is Rs. 30,000 up from the previous one. There is also a massive increase of Rs 25000 each on the Blackstorm 7S MT and the 6S MT models, thus bringing the new prices to Rs 22.87 Lakhs and Rs 23.08 Lakhs, respectively.

Despite the price hikes, the features and hardware specifications for the MG Hector and Hector Plus remain unchanged. MG Motor recently introduced the Snow Storm and Desert Storm special edition variants of the MG Gloster SUV. Following the trend with the Blackstorm Edition of the Gloster and Hector, there is a possibility that these special editions could also be introduced for the Hector lineup soon.
