Ather Energy India is gearing up as one of the most successful electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India. We can clearly see from the sales figures what the brand has achieved in the previous month. Now, the electric two-wheeler company announced a significant production achievement, surpassing sales of 5 lakh electric scooters in India. This milestone was achieved by Ather’s flagship family scooter, Rizta, which has periodically emerged as the best-selling scooter since its launch in 2024.
The brand has achieved a remarkable production milestone by crossing 5 lakh unit sales across the country from its manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The milestone signifies not just Ather’s consistent growth but also the rapid acceptance of electric mobility among Indian consumers. With its strong product lineup, expanding retail network, and continuous software upgrades, Ather is on an upward trajectory in promoting sustainable electric mobility in India.
Rapid Growth Since Inception
Ather Energy entered the Indian automotive landscape as an electric two-wheeler startup in 2013. Later on, the company launched its first product, the Ather 450, in 2018. Since its debut, the brand has been evolving and growing over the years, giving tough competition to its rivals. The brand manufactured some of the best models across the portfolio, such as the Ather 450X, 450S, and the best-selling scooter, the Ather Rizta.
Rizta is one of those e-scooters that caters to both performance-oriented and family-focused riders. Over the years, Ather has expanded its footprint to more than 150 cities, backed by manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, capable of producing several hundred thousand units annually.
Pioneering the Premium EV Experience
Ather currently has two facilities in Hosur. The primary facility is specialized for vehicle assembly, and the other facility is for battery production. Ather positioned itself as a performance-driven brand focused on technology and design. Its scooters feature robust build quality, touchscreen dashboards, connected technology, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The consistent focus on user experience and reliability has helped Ather secure a leading position in the premium EV segment. In Hosur, the brand is capable of delivering 4.2 lakh scooters annually. However, to meet the growing demand and integrate the supply chain, Ather is making plans to open the third facility. This new facility would be established at Bidkin, AURIC, near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
Strong Charging Infrastructure Expansion

One of the most prominent factors that expanded the business operation of Ather in India is the early development of the charging infrastructure. The brand has installed over 2,000 fast-charging points across the nation, known as Ather Grid. This infrastructure advantage continues to play a crucial role in promoting EV adoption across metropolitan and emerging cities alike.
Transforming With a Visionary Approach
Speaking about the remarkable milestone, Mr. Swapnil Jha, co-founder of Ather, said, “We have crossed 5 lakh scooters under the brand Ather. From our very first prototype to today, our journey has been about building not just vehicles but scalable, reliable, and affordable electric scooters.”
He later added, “The brand also highlights the dedication of teams across the country and the trust and support of our owner community, who have been with us throughout this journey.”
Conclusion
With the 5 lakh unit milestone, Ather Energy has set a strong precedent for sustained growth in India’s electric two-wheeler sector. The company continues to invest in expanding its portfolio, widening dealership networks, and enhancing ownership economics through battery advancements and new subscription services.
