The Indian automotive industry is changing rapidly. From autonomous driving to smart voice assistance, evolving the personal driving experience. In today's world, thanks to artificial intelligence, it's now becoming the norm. However, where many automotive brands were making a theater on wheels with smart infotainment systems, the recently launched Citroen Basalt X has now changed the game entirely.
With the debut of the all-new Citroen Basalt X, we are now entering an entirely new chapter of smart voice assistant systems. The Basalt X has been recently launched under the Citroen 2.0 Shift into the New initiative, introducing India’s first intelligent in-car AI assistant, CARA, to life. Together, Basalt X and CARA will showcase Stellantis’s vision of mobility and smart engineering in India for Indian customers. Let us look at the insights of the first in-car assistant, CARA, and how it will perform as an AI.
CARA stands for Connected Adaptive Responsive Assistant and represents a new version or generation of smart voice command systems. Unlike any other voice-command system that follows pre-programmed rules and regulations, CARA, on the other hand, is designed to think, learn, update, and adapt. This new generation AI assistant is deeply integrated with Basalt X’s digital architecture framework.
CARA delivers an experience that is not only futuristic but also deeply personal. It might upscale your personalized driving experience to a whole new level. At its core, CARA is built on an advanced natural language processing network engine that will allow the driver, the co-driver, and even passengers to communicate with the vehicle in natural, everyday speech.

CARA is one of the most advanced voice assistants ever introduced in any Indian car. It’s India’s first and only intelligent, multilingual, intuitive, and contextually aware in-car companion. Instead of memorizing specific commands, drivers and passengers can simply say, “I’m feeling too hot,” and CARA will adjust the climate control accordingly. It can deliver various actions such as the following:
The assistant doesn’t just execute commands when needed. If traffic is building up on a regular commute, CARA can suggest alternate routes.
With the introduction of CARA, the French carmaker has taken a bold step forward, strengthening the portfolio and market position in the Indian automotive landscape. With these innovations the vehicle tries to be your driving companion with the latest iteration of the CARA smart assistant. The CARA can perform the following functions:
