The Basalt launched as part of Citroën’s C-Cubed programme. The Basalt is designed to blend the practicality of an SUV with the sporty aesthetics of a coupé to target urban buyers seeking style, comfort, and advanced safety.
The exterior of the Basalt features clearance with a sloping roofline and is built on the CMP platform, and it shares its front-end architecture with the C3 range. The highlights include thick body cladding, squared-off wheel arches, and a front fascia that reflects Citroën’s global design language.
Inside the Basalt, the interiors will greet its customers with space and comfort along with a focus on comfort and convenience for both driver and passengers. The Basalt is also equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a rear parking camera with sensors. Citroën has also incorporated over 40 connected car features via the Citroën Connect 2.0 app, enabling remote engine start, door lock/unlock, and geo-fencing. The Basalt also introduces a 3-step smart tilt cushion for adjustable rear seat thigh support, and the additional features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, projector headlamps, wireless charging, and practical storage solutions throughout the cabin.
The standard safety features within the Basalt across all variants include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchors, three-point seat belts for all occupants, seat belt reminders, hill hold control, speed sensing door locks, an anti-theft engine immobiliser, and a puncture repair kit.
The Basalt is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which generates an output of 110 hp, available with both manual and torque converter automatic transmissions. The engine achieves a mileage of up to 18 km/l.
The Citroën Basalt emerges as a compelling choice in the midsize SUV coupé segment, blending French flair with robust engineering and a strong focus on safety. Its unique design, spacious and feature-rich interior, comprehensive safety suite, and efficient turbo-petrol engine make it a standout option for Indian buyers seeking a balance of style, comfort, and peace of mind.
