Get ready for a groundbreaking test drive into India's car safety future! Bharat NCAP, the nation's latest vehicle testing marvel, revs its engines to kick off operations this Friday, December 15th. Think of it as India's own superhero league for cars, ensuring they're built tough and safe for our roads.

Modelled on the internationally acclaimed Global NCAP, this homegrown agency steps up to the plate, ready to put the first batch of vehicles through their paces. Imagine the excitement—cars lined up, adrenaline pumping, as they face the ultimate crash test challenge.

With its snazzy website already up and running, Bharat NCAP is dropping hints about which cars are about to take the plunge into safety scrutiny. Big players like Hyundai are leading the charge, pledging to send in their top models for the ultimate safety showdown. Picture the Exter SUV and the sleek new Creta SUV gearing up to be the flag bearers for Hyundai in this safety spectacle.

Hold onto your seats because it’s not just Hyundai stealing the show. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Kia are revving their engines too, preparing to test a whopping 10 models combined! Kia’s Seltos and the new Sonet, their prized SUVs, are prepping to strut their stuff at this safety extravaganza.

But it's not just about the number of airbags anymore. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has revealed the key to the five-star safety kingdom: cars equipped with six airbags will be the true champions. India's car safety norms might mandate two airbags, but Bharat NCAP is taking it up a notch, ensuring our cars are armored to the teeth for all passengers.

This safety fiesta won’t be your typical crash test. Bharat NCAP is pulling out all the stops with a barrage of assessments—from front impacts to side barriers, electronic stability control to pedestrian safety compliance. And that's not all! They've got plans to level up with rear crash protection and Autonomous Emergency Braking in the pipeline.

For those coveted five stars, cars need to ace the Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection tests. It’s no cakewalk—27 points for adults, 41 points for kids. But fear not! Even a three-star safety rating means business: six airbags, ESC, pedestrian-friendly design, and front seatbelt reminders.

Get ready to buckle up, India! Bharat NCAP is set to redefine safety standards with over 30 models lined up for this nail-biting, safety-driven thrill ride. Fasten those seatbelts, it’s going to be one heck of a safety rollercoaster!
