BYD's 2024 Dolphin, now priced at 99.8k Yuan (Rs 11.5 Lakh), introduces new features, alloy wheels, and a potential Indian launch, competing in the EV market.
BYD's latest offering, the 2024 Dolphin, comes in four variants with varying features and pricing. The base variant, named Vitality, starts at 99,800 yuan (approx. Rs 11.49 lakh) and is equipped with a 32-kWh battery pack, generating 94 hp of max power with a certified range of 302 km. The Free variant, priced at 112,800 yuan (approx. Rs 12.99 lakh), features a larger 45 kWh battery pack, providing a higher range of 420 km. Dolphin Fashion, starting at 119,800 yuan (approx. Rs 13.79 lakh), boasts additional features. In contrast, the performance-focused Knight variant, priced at 129,800 yuan (approx. Rs 15.23 lakh), has a powerful 174 hp motor and a 401 km range.
The 2024 BYD Dolphin introduces a set of new alloy wheels, additional color options, and various upgrades to its equipment list. Notable additions include a USB Type-C charging port, a 50W wireless phone charging pad, ventilated front seats, and an independent suspension system, similar to the Euro-spec model.

BYD has recently registered the Dolphin word mark in India, indicating a potential launch in the country. With its presence in various international markets, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Brazil, the Dolphin is a crucial product for BYD in promoting the shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles.
The BYD Dolphin offers a comprehensive range of premium features, including a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, PM 2.5 filter, leatherette upholstery, electronic parking brake, and a panoramic glass roof. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features and a 5-star crash test rating in Euro NCAP ensure safety for users.
In the Indian market, the BYD Dolphin is expected to compete with rivals such as MG ZS EV and upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Citroen eC3 Aircross. The anticipated launch price for the BYD Dolphin in India is around Rs 24-25 lakh.
