On February 17, 2025, BYD formally introduced the BYD Sealion 7, their newest electric SUV, in India. This further solidifies BYD's position in the EV industry by introducing its fourth and most opulent electric SUV to the Indian market. Both the Premium and Performance trims of the Sealion 7 are priced at ₹48.9 lakh and ₹54.9 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
Design and Exterior
The SUV features a sleek and edgy design with a coupe-style roofline, LED headlights, connected LED taillights, flush-type door handles, and alloy wheels measuring up to 20 inches. It is available in four colors: Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White, and Shark Grey.
Interior and Features
With leatherette seat upholstery, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated front seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic glass top, the Sealion 7 has an opulent black-themed cabin. A head-up display, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a 12-speaker stereo system are further amenities.
Performance and Range
The Sealion 7 is powered by an 82.56 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 567 km2. The Premium variant delivers 313 hp and 380 Nm of torque, while the Performance variant offers an impressive 523 hp and 690 Nm of torque. The SUV is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.
Safety
The Sealion 7 comes equipped with 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, and a driver monitoring system that uses an infrared camera to detect signs of drowsiness or distraction.
Competitors
The BYD Sealion 7 will compete with other premium electric SUVs in the Indian market, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQB, and Volvo EX40 Recharge.
