Discover the eco-friendly update for the Honda Amaze! A dealer-level CNG kit is now available, offering better mileage and reduced emissions while maintaining Honda's signature performance and reliability.
Honda Cars India has unveiled a new eco-friendly option for the third-generation Amaze: a dealer-installed CNG kit. The move reflects Honda’s strategy to tap into the rapidly growing CNG segment while laying the groundwork for its electrification journey starting in 2026. However, there are key details and limitations prospective buyers should consider.
The CNG kit is priced at ₹1 lakh, excluding dealer-specific fitting charges. Despite being installed at the dealership, the kit is covered under Honda’s standard and extended warranties, subject to specific terms and conditions. Additionally, the kit will be treated as standard equipment for servicing at any Honda dealership nationwide, ensuring a hassle-free ownership experience.
This kit is compatible with all variants of the Honda Amaze, including the top-spec ZX trim, providing buyers with flexibility in customizing their compact sedan.
The Honda Amaze continues to be powered by its trusted 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which delivers 88 bhp and 110 Nm of torque in its petrol-only guise. However, in the CNG configuration, power and torque figures are expected to drop by approximately 10–11 bhp and 10–11 Nm, aligning with industry norms for CNG-powered vehicles. Notably, the CNG kit is available exclusively with the five-speed manual transmission, leaving CVT buyers without this option.
Among its compact sedan rivals, Honda remains the only automaker offering a dealer-installed rather than factory-fitted CNG option. This strategy highlights Honda’s cautious approach to balancing current market trends with its future vision. With CNG penetration in the compact sedan market reaching double digits, this new offering aims to bridge the gap for customers seeking affordable and greener fuel alternatives.
While the CNG-equipped Amaze caters to immediate market demand, Honda’s broader focus remains on electrification. The company has announced plans to introduce hybrid and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) starting in 2026, when the stricter CAFÉ 3 norms come into effect. Leading this charge will be an all-electric SUV based on the Elevate platform, slated for launch between 2026 and 2027.
The introduction of a dealer-installed CNG kit for the Amaze is a strategic move by Honda to address market demand while staying true to its long-term vision of sustainable mobility. By providing warranty coverage and nationwide servicing support, Honda has ensured a reliable ownership experience for CNG buyers, even if the kit isn’t factory-fitted. For eco-conscious customers looking for a compact sedan with Honda’s trademark reliability, this new offering adds a compelling option to the mix.
