Honda will launch a significant update for the City at the end of May 2026. The changes will cover both the regular and e:HEV hybrid models. This update aims to help the City remain competitive as the segment evolves and as SUVs continue to dominate the market.
Key Highlights
- Honda City to get major update in May 2026 covering regular and e:HEV models
- Exterior changes include new front design alloy wheels and revised tail lamps
- Interior upgrades will add digital cluster new upholstery powered seats and dual-zone climate control
- ADAS package expected to expand with more safety features to match rivals
- Hybrid options may be offered in lower variants to reach more buyers
Exterior and Interior Changes

The 2026 Honda City will feature a redesigned front end, new alloy wheel designs, and a revised tail lamp cluster. These updates will refresh the car’s appearance while keeping its recognizable silhouette. Inside, Honda plans to introduce a digital instrument cluster, new upholstery choices, powered and ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. These features will modernize the cabin and address growing customer expectations.
Advanced Safety and Technology
The City was among the first in India to offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, its current ADAS package lacks several features found in rival models. The upcoming update is expected to add rear cross-traffic alert, rear emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree camera system. These additions will help the City compete more effectively in its segment.
Hybrid Powertrain Expansion

Currently, Honda offers the self-charging hybrid e:HEV only in top-spec trims. Expanding the hybrid option to lower variants could attract more buyers seeking fuel efficiency without premium features. This strategy would allow Honda to reach a wider customer base as other brands like Kia, Maruti, Hyundai, Renault, and Nissan plan to launch their own hybrids in the next two to three years. Introducing more hybrid variants now positions Honda as an early leader in this space.
Future Plans for Honda in India
Honda announced plans to expand its India lineup to 10 models over the next few years. The updated City, Elevate facelift, and Amaze facelift are included in this plan. Honda may also introduce a sub-compact SUV to compete with other popular models. The expanded range will feature vehicles like the ZR-V, HR-V, and the Prelude sports car. Honda also intends to enter the battery electric vehicle segment with a production version of the Alpha Zero concept.
