  • The launch is scheduled ar the end of January 2024

Husqvarna, the renowned motorcycle brand and sister company of KTM, owned by Pierer Mobility, is poised to make a significant move into the 350–400cc motorcycle segment in India. Having made its Indian debut with the quarter-liter twins, Svartpilen and Vitpillen, in 2020, the company is gearing up to introduce the Svartpilen 401, manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s facility in Maharashtra.

Long-Awaited Launch in India

Despite being available internationally for almost four years, the Svartpilen 401 had not been launched in India until now. The bike, part of Husqvarna's India operations handled by Bajaj, is set to hit the Indian market by the end of January 2024.

Launch Date and Competition

Anticipation surrounds the launch of the Svartpilen 401 between January 21 and 23. The motorcycle is expected to rival the likes of Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, BMW G 310 RR, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

The upcoming Svartpilen 401 is likely to be a new-generation model, built upon the new-gen KTM 390 Duke platform. Test mules of the motorcycle have been spotted during testing over the past few months, confirming its imminent arrival.

Styling, Specs, and Features

The Svartpilen 401's design, based on spy shots, closely mirrors its 250cc sibling, featuring a neo-scrambler style. Notable design elements include a circular headlamp, a single-piece saddle with a floating tail section, black alloy wheels, and a chiseled fuel tank.

Expected Features and Specifications

The motorcycle is anticipated to offer LED headlamps and taillamps, a digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity, traction control, and riding modes. Optional features might include a quickshifter.

Performance and Hardware

Underpinned by the new-gen Duke 390 platform, the Svartpilen 401 is expected to be powered by a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, coupled with a six-speed gearbox. This engine is projected to deliver 45 bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle's hardware will include upside-down front forks, a gullwing swingarm with an offset monoshock at the rear, and disc brakes at both ends, equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard.

In summary, Husqvarna's imminent launch of the Svartpilen 401 in India marks a strategic move into the 350–400cc motorcycle segment, offering enthusiasts a stylish and feature-packed option in this competitive market. The bike's expected launch by the end of January 2024 has generated significant excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts.
