Mahindra's electric vehicle line-up is expanding, with recent spy shots revealing the interior of the upcoming XUV700 EV, known as the XUV.e8. The images, captured in Nashik, showcase a striking triple-screen layout dominating the dashboard. Based on Mahindra's INGLO platform, the XUV700 EV is expected to launch in 2025 and compete directly with Tata Motors' Harrier EV and Safari EV upon their launch. The XUV.e8 represents a significant step in Mahindra's electrification strategy and will likely be the first of five electric vehicles planned by the manufacturer.
The spy shots offer a glimpse into the XUV.e8's advanced interior features. The dashboard has three 10.25-inch screens, each serving a distinct purpose:
1. A central infotainment touchscreen
2. A driver's display for instrumentation and vehicle information
3. A front passenger touchscreen with yet-unknown functionality
Externally, the XUV.e8 resembles its internal combustion engine counterpart, the XUV700. Notable differences include a new set of alloy wheels and a charging port positioned similarly to the XUV700's fuel filler. While most design changes are expected to be concentrated on the front fascia, the overall silhouette remains familiar.
Under the hood, the Mahindra XUV700 EV is rumored to feature:
- A battery pack of up to 80 kWh
- An estimated range of around 500 km
- A potential dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup
Previous spy shots have confirmed the presence of a rear motor, suggesting that Mahindra may offer both single and dual-motor configurations for the XUV.e8.
While the central infotainment screen is expected to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the purpose of the front passenger display remains unclear. It could serve as an extension of the main screen, a hybrid of infotainment and instrumentation, or offer unique features tailored to the passenger's needs.
As Mahindra intensifies testing of the XUV.e8, more details are likely to emerge in the coming months. The electric SUV market in India is booming, with several manufacturers battling for a share of this growing segment. Mahindra's entry with the XUV.e8 marks a significant milestone in the company's electrification journey and could reshape India’s premium electric SUV market.
