Mahindra, a prominent player in the electric vehicle (EV) market, has revealed the patent images of its much-anticipated BE.05 SUV coupe. The unveiling provides an early glimpse into the design of Mahindra's third born-electric vehicle, slated to hit the market after the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 SUVs. The BE.05 is set to make its debut in October 2025, positioned above the upcoming XUV300 EV and the recently updated XUV400 EV.
Design

The patent images showcase the BE.05's close-to-production design, featuring a sharp SUV coupe with a sculpted front design and a steeply raked front windshield. The vehicle boasts of angular styling, adorned with multiple cuts and creases throughout. Additionally, the BE.05 will come equipped with a panoramic glass roof and a distinctive LED light bar at the rear.

Road Testing in Progress
Current reports indicate that Mahindra's born-electric SUVs, including the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, and the BE.05, are actively undergoing road tests across various regions of the country. These road tests suggest that Mahindra is gearing up for a comprehensive and robust launch of its upcoming electric SUV line-up.
Powertrain and Performance Features
The BE.05 is designed to offer both 2WD and 4WD powertrain options, catering to a diverse range of preferences. The 2WD variant will feature a rear-mounted motor producing an impressive 210kW (286hp) and 535Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 4WD variants will boast a second motor on the front axle, generating 80kW (109hp) and 135Nm of torque. The vehicle will be powered by a 79kWh battery pack, utilizing LFP cells with enhanced energy density, slower discharge rate, no thermal propagation, and an impressive charging time of 0-80 percent in just 30 minutes.
Market Positioning and Competition

When it finally hits the market, the Mahindra BE.05 SUV will find itself positioned above the XUV300 EV and the recently updated XUV400 EV. Competing with formidable rivals such as the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Maruti eVX, and Hyundai Creta EV, the BE.05 is assured to be a strong contender in the rapidly evolving electric SUV segment.
