Mahindra XEV 9S Launched in India at Rs 19.95 lakh

Mahindra has launched the much‑anticipated XEV 9S in India as its first three-row, all‑electric SUV, positioning it as a mass‑market gateway into premium family EV ownership. Built on the brand’s born‑electric INGLO platform and priced from Rs 19.95 lakh (ex‑showroom), it undercuts its XEV 9e sibling while retaining a rich feature and performance package.

Targeted at evolving Indian families ready to shift from ICE or hybrid SUVs to full‑electric mobility, the XEV 9S combines a genuinely usable seven-seat cabin with contemporary design and a strong technology story. With bookings ready to open in mid‑January 2026 and deliveries to commence later that month, Mahindra is clearly betting on scale, not just halo appeal, for its new flagship EV. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mahindra XEV 9S.

Refreshed Design & Interiors

From the recent images, the XEV 9S carries forward the silhouette of the XUV 700 but reinterprets it with EV‑specific cues such as a closed-off grille, connected DRLs, triangular LED headlamps, and a long bonnet that gives a chunky front profile. Aero-optimized alloy wheels, flush door handles, roof rails, and dedicated Mahindra Electric badging underline its role as a born-electric, not a mere conversion.

Talking about the interiors, Mahindra has gone upmarket with a tech‑centric yet family‑friendly cabin. A triple‑screen layout dominates the dashboard, complemented by a panoramic sunroof, premium materials, and flexible three‑row seating. The infotainment system is integrated with a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) feature, among other connected-car features.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Battery, Range & Performance

Features
Features

The XEV 9S offers multiple LFP battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs shared with the BE6 and XEV 9e, along with a newly introduced 70 kWh pack on select variants. The base variant, the Pack One Above variant, has 59 kWh and 79 kWh options, both driving the rear. Then comes the mid-spec variant, Pack Two, that offers an all-new 70 kWh battery pack.

The top variant is only available with a 79 kWh battery pack under Pack Three and Pack Three Above, which claim a range from about 600 to 679 km on a single charge. Fast‑charging capability from high‑power DC chargers is supported by the INGLO architecture, which should help ease long‑distance anxiety for early EV‑adopting families.

For Indian customers, even lower variants are configured with highlights like the 31.24 cm triple‑screen integrated with Dolby Atmos surround sound setup, connected‑car technology, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and advanced air purification with AQI monitoring.

Higher variants further layer on premium comfort and convenience, reinforcing the SUV’s flagship status within Mahindra’s EV portfolio. On the safety and driver‑assist front, Mahindra equips the XEV 9S with Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, and a full suite of passive safety systems, leveraging learning from the XUV 700 and INGLO development.

Pricing & Variants

The 2025 Mahindra XEV 9S base variant comes with a Pack One 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack, priced at Rs 19.95 lakh and Rs 21.95 lakh, respectively. Then comes the Pack Two Above with a 70 kWh battery pack at Rs 24.45 lakh and 70 kWh at Rs 25.45 lakh. The final trim level, Pack Three, with 70 kWh, comes with Rs 27.35 lakh, and Pack Three Above is priced at Rs 29.45 lakh.

Conclusion

By building the XEV 9S on the INGLO skateboard and aligning its styling with Mahindra’s new‑age electric language, the company also strengthens its overall EV brand presence ahead of upcoming BE‑badged models. For Indian families ready to take the EV leap without compromising on space or road presence, the XEV 9S arrives as a strategically timed and sharply positioned option.
