Mahindra has launched the much‑anticipated XEV 9S in India as its first three-row, all‑electric SUV, positioning it as a mass‑market gateway into premium family EV ownership. Built on the brand’s born‑electric INGLO platform and priced from Rs 19.95 lakh (ex‑showroom), it undercuts its XEV 9e sibling while retaining a rich feature and performance package.
Targeted at evolving Indian families ready to shift from ICE or hybrid SUVs to full‑electric mobility, the XEV 9S combines a genuinely usable seven-seat cabin with contemporary design and a strong technology story. With bookings ready to open in mid‑January 2026 and deliveries to commence later that month, Mahindra is clearly betting on scale, not just halo appeal, for its new flagship EV. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mahindra XEV 9S.
Refreshed Design & Interiors

From the recent images, the XEV 9S carries forward the silhouette of the XUV 700 but reinterprets it with EV‑specific cues such as a closed-off grille, connected DRLs, triangular LED headlamps, and a long bonnet that gives a chunky front profile. Aero-optimized alloy wheels, flush door handles, roof rails, and dedicated Mahindra Electric badging underline its role as a born-electric, not a mere conversion.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Battery, Range & Performance

The XEV 9S offers multiple LFP battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs shared with the BE6 and XEV 9e, along with a newly introduced 70 kWh pack on select variants. The base variant, the Pack One Above variant, has 59 kWh and 79 kWh options, both driving the rear. Then comes the mid-spec variant, Pack Two, that offers an all-new 70 kWh battery pack.
