Discover the thrill of India's off-road adventure with Mahindra's upcoming 5-door Thar, redefining the off-road experience.

Key Highlights
The Indian automotive industry Mahindra has been witnessing a remarkable resurgence in the lifestyle off-road segment, largely attributed to its game-changing launch of the new Thar on August 15th, 2020. This iconic vehicle has not only revitalized the segment but also emerged as the best-selling vehicle in its genre in India. As Mahindra gears up to introduce an updated 5-Door model, enthusiasts and critics alike are eager to witness how it stacks up against its predecessor.
The Mahindra Thar 3-Door has undeniably set a high benchmark in the off-road segment, asserting its dominance and leaving competitors trailing behind. Despite the presence of rivals like the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Thar continues to command the market, as evidenced by its staggering sales figures. In January 2024 alone, while Maruti Suzuki managed to sell just 163 units of the Jimny, Mahindra Thar surged ahead with 6,059 units sold, solidifying its position as the undisputed leader.

The upcoming 5-Door model is poised to introduce several updates and enhancements, promising a refreshed driving experience. Notable revisions include a subtly redesigned fascia and tail section, expected to be incorporated into the 3-Door model as part of a facelift.

Additionally, a plethora of new features and equipment are anticipated to accompany the 5-Door variant, potentially setting the stage for a facelift or update for the 3-Door Thar. Speculations suggest a possible launch date of August 15th, 2024, with rumors circulating about the introduction of the "Thar Armada" name.

Recently, an exclusive comparison between the Mahindra Thar 3-Door and 5-Door models, circulated in the media offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the forthcoming updates. Among the highlights observed in the comparison were the inclusion of new projector LED headlight units, LED fog lights, and a subtly redesigned grille. Moreover, top-spec variants are expected to boast 19-inch wheels, enhancing both aesthetics and performance.
One of the most anticipated aspects of the 5-Door Thar is the array of updated features it promises to deliver. According to reports, test mules have been spotted equipped with advanced features such as a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors, and rear door handles integrated into the C-Pillars. Furthermore, depending on the trim level, buyers can expect options ranging from a beige roofline with a black dashboard to a dual-tone dashboard with a black roof liner.

Luxury and convenience are set to take center stage in the 5-Door Thar, with top-spec variants anticipated to offer a slew of premium amenities. These include a single-pane sunroof, a new steering wheel shared with the Scorpio N, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button engine start with keyless entry, and a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Additionally, features like Adrenox UI with connected technology, a fully digital instrument cluster, front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, auto headlights, and auto wipers are expected to further elevate the driving experience.

In line with consumer preferences, Mahindra is likely to offer multiple engine options for the 5-Door Thar, catering to a diverse range of driving needs. While the 1.5L diesel engine in RWD configuration could appeal to urban commuters, the 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines are expected to offer slightly more powerful tunes than their counterparts in the 3-Door Thar.

As anticipation mounts and excitement builds around the launch of the Mahindra Thar 5-Door, enthusiasts and prospective buyers eagerly await the opportunity to experience firsthand the evolution of this iconic off-road vehicle.

With its blend of rugged capability, modern features, and enhanced versatility, the 5-Door Thar is poised to redefine the standards of the lifestyle off-road segment in India.
