Maruti Suzuki Reveals the All-New eVitara with BaaS Plan in India
Maruti Suzuki eVitara revolutionizes EV ownership in India with BaaS, offering up to 543 km of range and 5-star Bharat NCAP safety. Sales start early 2026 via NEXA.

Maruti Suzuki has finally lifted the curtain on its first all-electric SUV, the eVitara, in India. This new vehicle will be positioned as a mass-market EV with specifications for both range and cost as a driving companion. Unlike MG as an automotive brand, Maruti Suzuki is also moving forward while offering the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) for its first electric car to lower the cost of the vehicle.
Maruti Suzuki is using the eVitara to launch a broader EV ecosystem strategy, combining an extensive charging network with flexible ownership models. With sales slated to start in early 2026 and bookings opening soon, the eVitara BaaS model could become a template for future mass-market EVs in India. Let’s check out the possible details of the newly launched Maruti Suzuki eVitara.
What Does the BaaS Plan Offer to Indian Customers?
Maruti Suzuki eViatar will be the first electric car to be launched in India. The Indian automaker giant has revealed the BaaS plan for the customers so that they can buy the eVitara with the battery, and the customer can pay a recurring fee for the remaining battery pack setup. This will ultimately reduce the introductory ex-showroom price. This policy offers subscription-style models already seen with other brands in their portfolio.
Buyers will have the choice between traditional outright purchase, BaaS, and subscription options, giving different user profiles flexibility depending on usage, tenure, and budget. Maruti Suzuki is also pairing these with assured buyback programs to ease long-term value and resale concerns.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara: Battery, Range & Performance

The newly launched Maruti Suzuki eVitara will come with two different battery configuration options. The base variant will be offered with a 49 kWh battery pack, while the top model will be equipped with a 61 kWh battery pack. The larger 61 kWh unit is paired with a more powerful motor setup and promises an ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km on a single charge, while the 49 kWh unit offers 344 km on a single charge.
However, the lower variants are expected to use a single-motor front-wheel-drive layout, while higher trims with the larger battery support an all-wheel-drive configuration branded AllGrip-e. Talking about the performance, the 49 kWh battery pack will produce 142 HP of power, while the 61 kWh revs up about 172 HP of power.
Advanced Features

The SUV is expected to mirror Maruti’s similar variants, such as the Delta, Zeta, and Alpha structure, with features like a large touchscreen, connected tech, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof on higher trims. A battery warranty of up to eight years or 1.6 lakh km further boosts buyer confidence, especially for early adopters of the BaaS model.
In terms of safety, the e-Vitara is equipped with 7 airbags, parking sensors, TPMS, and a Level 2 ADAS with lane-keep assist, emergency braking, and cruise control.

Charging Network And EV Ecosystem
To support the eVitara and its BaaS strategy, Maruti Suzuki has already activated over 2,000 exclusive charging points across more than 1,100 cities in India. The company has publicly stated its ambition to scale this to around 1 lakh charging points by 2030, targeting a charger every 5–10 km in major urban corridors.
Pricing & Market Outlook
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that sales of the eVitara in India will commence around January 2026, with bookings set to open in the coming days. However, the brand has not disclosed any further information about the pricing.
Conclusion
By combining a competitive range, strong safety credentials, and an aggressive BaaS-led affordability play, the eVitara is clearly targeted at families upgrading from compact SUVs and sedans rather than niche early adopters. For Maruti Suzuki, this is not just its first EV but a strategic statement on how it wants India’s mass-market electric future to look.
