Maruti Suzuki begins exporting its first Battery Electric Vehicle, the e VITARA, from India to 12 European countries, marking a key milestone in the global EV revolution.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has once again made headlines with the launch of its first battery electric vehicle, the e-Vitara. The Indian automaker has also commenced the export of Suzuki’s first BEV, the e-Vitara, to Europe. The company’s strategic export started from Pipavav Port, Gujarat, delivering over 2,900 units to a dozen European countries, showcasing the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision. This significant milestone comes with the inauguration of the e-Vitara production facility at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat factory in Hansalpur.
On August 26, 2025, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, commemorated the start of the production unit of e-Vitara. The PM praised the brand as a ‘Make in India ambassador.’ The export debut not only signals India’s rising stature as a hub for advanced electric vehicle manufacturing but also marks a confident stride for Maruti Suzuki on the global automotive stage.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara exporting to 12 European countries

Maruti Suzuki has commenced the e-Vitara export drive to Europe. Then from Europe, the cars will be exported overseas to the other 12 countries, including the UK, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium.
This represents a powerful affirmation of the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and a world-class product lineup. The 2025 e-Vitara is exclusively manufactured at MSIL's Gujarat manufacturing facility. The start of the export marks a key milestone in Suzuki’s roadmap to establish India as the global production hub for e-Vitara.
From The Director’s Desk
Celebrating this historic milestone, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of MSIL, said, “The Honourable Prime Minister’s recognition of Maruti Suzuki as a brand ambassador of Make in India is the highest possible honor we could think of. The start of the export of e-Vitara to Europe is indeed a proud and defining moment for us.”
He later added, “The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is built on an all-new electric platform (EV platform), called HEARTEC-e; the e-Vitara features a design that combines a sense of advanced technology and strength. We are sure that with a nimble and sharp driving experience, it will delight customers in Europe.”
Conclusion
The Maruti Suzuki e-VITARA export initiative undoubtedly strengthens India’s automotive export corridor, marking a significant step in the EV revolution. Years before, with a simple collaboration between Suzuki and Maruti Udyog, everything started, and now, the Indian-made cars are being exported to the European automotive landscape. This initiative is poised to inspire similar steps across India’s automaking, echoing the nation’s potential to lead the next wave of automotive innovation worldwide.
