The Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has made a remarkable step to provide 6 airbags as a standard option in all versions of XL6 models. Starting July 2025, the XL6 comes equipped with six airbags as standard fitment across all its variants.
This bold update not only signifies Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to passenger safety but also strengthens the XL6’s appeal as a family-first vehicle in an increasingly competitive market. With this new addition of a safety feature, Maruti Suzuki has also increased the actual price of the car by 0.8%. Let's take a look at the new update on the XL6 in detail.
What's new with the upgrade?
As per the report, Maruti Suzuki has decided to introduce 6 airbags as a standard safety feature on the upcoming models of XL6. With this new update the premium MPV under NEXA's dealership will receive airbags across all its passenger vehicles by the end of 2025. Until now, the 6-airbag suite was exclusive to the higher-end trims of the XL6.
With this update, Maruti Suzuki has improved the safety and security of the car as well as the passengers. This move is a direct response to evolving consumer expectations and more stringent safety norms in India.
Maruti Suzuki XL6: Powertrain Specs
As only the safety standard has been revised, the rest remains the same. The car is powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine. This petrol engine produces 102 HP and 137 Nm of torque with mild hybrid technology. The car is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission setup. An option for the 6-speed automatic is also available for customers. The car also offers a CNG option for cost-conscious buyers.
Standard Safety Features on XL6
The best-selling premium MPV segment in India has various safety features that Maruti offers as standard to Indian customers. These features are listed below.

- Electronic Stability Program
- Hill hold assist
- ISOFIX child seat mounts

However, the top-end variants also feature a 360-degree camera, a highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Hill Assist Control.
