Mercedes Benz Crosses Production of 2 Lakh Made-in-India Cars
Recently, Mercedes-Benz rolled out its 2,00,000th car from Chakan, Pune facility, and the model was the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
Mercedes-Benz is India's most popular luxury car brand. Recently, this German automaker announced a significant milestone of rolling out its 2,00,000th locally assembled car from its plant in Chakan, Pune. With its flagship models like Mercedes-Benz Maybach, the automaker has been a top choice for Bollywood stars, business tycoons, and a diverse range of automobile enthusiasts.

Mercedes-Benz commenced production for its flagship model in India in 1995 and the first model the brand rolled out was W124 (E-Class). During its first 19 years of India production, it manufactured 50,000 cars and an additional 1,00,000 cars in the next nine years, by 2013.
Recently, Mercedes-Benz rolled out its 2,00,000th car from Chakan, Pune facility, and the model was the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
In 2015, it was the first time this Germany-based luxury automobile manufacturer decided to manufacture the S500, the first Mercedes-Benz Maybach manufactured outside Germany. Based on company claims, the automaker has made a total investment of Rs 3,000 crore and a fresh investment of Rs 200 crore in 2024
Mercedes-Benz has over 100 luxury touchpoints, spanning across 50 cities in India, underscoring its dedication to serving Indian consumers with flagship luxury vehicles. One of the reasons why the Mercedes cars are popular in India is the go-to choice for many celebrities, industries, and sports personalities, who are often seen driving or sharing pictures with one of Mercedes-Benz cars, mostly the Maybach and Mercedes sedans.
Currently, the automaker has 27 models in India, including AMG and Maybach models. The sedan lineup starts from A-Class and goes up to S-Class, serving diverse luxury sedan buyers. Moreover, the SUV range from the automaker goes from GLA to Maybach GLS.
The automaker also has the iconic G-Wagen in ICE and EV variants. The Mercedes Benz EQA is the company's entry-level and most affordable electric vehicle, while the EQS luxury sedan and EQB SUV are flagship EV models.
