Exterior and Interior Features
The Windsor Commute EV maintains a premium exterior despite its entry-level positioning. It features LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and chrome accents. The side profile includes manual flush door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The model uses steel wheels without covers, which may be updated in future versions. At the rear, the design closely resembles the top variant, though it lacks connected taillamps. Additional features include 'COMMUTE' badging, silver trim on the boot lid, and four rear parking sensors.
Boot space is prioritized in the Commute variant, and there is no spare tyre. Instead, a tyre puncture repair kit is provided, along with an LED boot light. The rear seats offer a 60:40 split configuration for added flexibility.
Cabin and Safety Equipment
Inside, the Windsor Commute EV features a 7-inch LCD instrument screen. There is no infotainment system, but Bluetooth, FM, and USB connectivity are available. The vehicle includes cruise control, manual air conditioning, power windows, and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Manually adjustable ORVMs are also provided. The front cabin has both Type-A and Type-C USB ports, while the rear offers a single Type-C port.
The Commute variant retains the Windsor's reputation for spacious interiors. Rear seats have a reclining function, suitable for longer journeys. Safety equipment includes two airbags, hill hold assist, all-4 disc brakes, three-point seatbelts, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Battery, Range, and Pricing
The Windsor Commute EV uses a 38 kWh battery pack, the same as the Excite variant. It has an ARAI-certified range of 332 km. Charging options include both AC and DC fast charging. Using a 7.4 kW AC charger at home, the battery charges from 10% to 100% in about 7 hours. With a 45 kW DC charger, charging from 20% to 80% takes around 45 minutes.
The starting price for the Windsor Commute EV is Rs 13.49 lakh. The on-road price is about Rs 13.93 lakh, which includes TCS, FasTAG, and an Essential Kit. A Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option is also available to further reduce upfront costs for buyers.
