Key Highlights:
Ola Electric has announced the unveiling of ‘Ola Solo’, India's First Autonomous Electric Scooter. The company also released a video for the same. However, focusing on the date of this news being disclosed many thought it to be an April Fools prank by Ola. At present Ola S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X are the current offerings by Ola in Indian market.
However, Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder of Ola Electric came forward and tweeted that the video and announcement is no joke. The company has even listed some of the AI-features this new scooter will be equipped with, on its official website. We will have to wait for further detail for the launch and price of this completely different and new electric scooter segment in India.
Ola Solo will be fully packed with advanced AI features which are aiming at increasing safety, convenience, and efficiency. Powered by the home built LMA09000 chip, Solo will be working on AI through its adaptive algorithm named JU-GUARD, which will ensure continuous learning and optimisation.
Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder of Ola Electric, took to social media platform, Twitter, and stated , "Promised you a new product and here it is! Presenting ‘Ola Solo - India's first autonomous electric scooter.’ Solo is fully autonomous, AI-enabled, and a traffic-smart scooter. Hail a ride or drive your own Solo. We will disrupt ride-hailing and local commerce!".
After many speculated this news to be a joke, Mr. Aggarwal took to Twitter and added, “ Not just an April fools joke! We announced Ola Solo yesterday. It went viral and many people debated whether it’s real or an April fools joke! While the video was meant to provide a laugh to people, the technology behind it is something we’ve been working on and have prototyped. It shows the kind of pioneering work our engineering teams are capable of. Ola Solo is a glimpse into the future of mobility and our engineering teams are working on autonomous and self-balancing tech in two wheelers which you’ll see in future products from us.”

Ola Electric emphasizes Solo's advanced sensing capabilities, utilizing laser pulses for distance measurement and precise 3D mapping of surroundings. This ensures enhanced situational awareness, contributing to a safer riding experience.
With the launch of 'Ola Solo,' Ola Electric reaffirms its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, offering consumers a technologically advanced and environmentally friendly option for urban commuting.
