The future of India’s development towards sustainable mobility will create a new milestone this week. As per the reports, the respected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will officially inaugurate the all-new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara on August 26, 2025. This event will take place at the brand’s Hansalput faculty in Gujarat. It will also mark the beginning of exports of the vehicle to the market across Europe and Japan.
The highly anticipated electric vehicle from Maruti Suzuki will be exported to over 100 countries across the globe, including the brand’s hometown, Japan. The car will give fierce competition to the Hyundai Creta EV and the MG ZS EV. With PM Modi himself gracing the launch, the e-Vitara debut is expected to set the tone for India’s EV market in terms of both consumer adoption and industrial policy momentum.
A Milestone for Maruti Suzuki and India’s EV Market
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle (BEV) in India. The vehicle is positioned to be one of the best global models that will serve domestic buyers while also targeting exports. The export of e-Vitara across the globe from India will now serve as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for the upcoming electric vehicles.
The upcoming e-Vitara is based on the company’s highly popular Grand Vitara platform. The upcoming car will blend SUV practicality with zero-emission efficiency, promising to reshape consumer attitudes towards mainstream EV adoption. As per the industry analyst, the vehicle is capable of producing a range of over 500 km on a single charge.
Government Push and Symbolism Behind the Launch
Alongside the inauguration of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, PM Narendra Modi will also inaugurate local hybrid battery electrode production at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant. This new plant is a joint venture of Toshiba and Denso, in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation. This step will ensure that over 80% of the battery value is manufactured in India itself. India has set ambitious targets for EV adoption, and the launch of the e-Vitara plays directly into this narrative by showcasing localized production, advanced battery technologies, and large-scale employment generation.
The event will fall under the government policy to continue rolling out EV subsidies and infrastructure under the FAME-2 policy guidelines. Furthermore, PM Narendra Modi also laid the foundation for Rs 5,400 crore of infrastructure projects and power distribution in Gujarat.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Key Specifications

The all-new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be available in single as well as dual motor versions. Both catered to the Indian customers according to their driving preferences. The single-variant model will come as standard, whereas the top variant might offer dual-motor with additional accessory cost.
Under the hood, the single variant motor will come with a 49 kWh battery setup that will generate 142 HP of maximum power. However, a 61 kWh battery setup option is also available that churns out 172 HP of power with 192.5 Nm of torque. Moreover, the dual motor will produce the power of 184 HP and 300 Nm of peak torque.
Conclusion
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara launch, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, will become one of the finest chapters in the Indian automotive landscape. This will boost the domestic manufacturing and clean energy tradition in India.
