Tata Harrier & Safari Ultra Red Dark Edition Diesel Launched in India
Tata Motors has extended its Ultra Red Dark treatment to the diesel-powered Harrier and Safari, adding red accents, upgraded interiors, and a Samsung Neo QLED Harman system with Dolby Atmos.

Tata Motors has turned up the drama on its diesel-powered Harrier and Safari by extending the Ultra Red Dark treatment to these popular SUVs. The new editions blend the familiar, muscular stance with a stealthy black-and-red theme, bringing a more emotional, almost concept-car-like flavor straight to the showroom for Indian buyers who want their family SUV to look properly special.
The Ultra Red Dark Harrier and Tata Safari pair a Samsung Neo QLED-powered Harman infotainment system with Dolby Atmos audio, while features like the VisioneX E-IRVM with a built-in dashcam, ClearView dual camera washer, VisionSync memory ORVMs, and Mappls Auto navigation underline their premium, tech-forward positioning in the fiercely contested midsize SUV segment. Let's check out what possible updates the all-new Tata Harrier and Tata Safari have.
Ultra Red Dark, now for diesels
On the outside, the Tata Harrier and Safari Ultra Red Dark editions stick with the now-familiar Carbon Black body color, offset by subtle red accents on the grille, Ultra Red Dark badging, and striking red brake calipers. The overall effect is properly sinister, yet tasteful enough to still look premium in a corporate parking lot or hotel porch.
Inside, Tata continues the red-and-black theme with rich carnelian red upholstery, contrasting quilting, and dark trim that flows across the dashboard and door pads. The ambient lighting, red accents around the air vents, and gloss-black inserts combine to give the cabins a lounge-like, almost concept-car ambience that feels a step up from the regular dark iterations.
Tech-heavy, cinema-style cabins

The headline talking point is the new 14.5-inch Harman touchscreen, powered by Samsung’s Neo QLED tech, which Tata claims delivers sharper visuals and better brightness than conventional automotive displays. It runs the latest infotainment software, supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and can even be used to stream content on platforms like YouTube and Hotstar when parked, turning the cabin into an impromptu living room on long journeys.
Audio duties are handled by a premium JBL setup with Dolby Atmos tuning, aimed at delivering a theater-like soundstage inside the cabin. With 10 speakers and a subwoofer working in tandem with the upgraded head unit, the system promises a richer, more immersive experience that fits right in with the Red Dark editions’ more indulgent brief.
Same proven diesel heart
While the visual and tech upgrades grab the headlines, the powertrain story is familiar, and that is no bad thing. Both the Harrier and Safari Ultra Red Dark diesel manuals continue with Tata’s 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel, displacing 1956 cc and producing around 170 HP and 350 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and compliant with BS6 Phase II emission norms.
Safety and Pricing
Tata has pegged the Harrier Ultra Red Dark diesel manual at Rs 23.84 lakh, ex-showroom, while the three-row Safari Ultra Red Dark diesel manual 7-seater comes in at Rs 24.49 lakh, ex-showroom. That places them squarely in the heart of the premium midsize SUV space, rubbing shoulders with top-spec versions of rivals from brands like Mahindra, MG, and Jeep.

CarBike 360 Says
For diesel loyalists who were eyeing the Red Dark treatment but also wanted the range, efficiency, and familiarity of a diesel powertrain, these new variants neatly plug the gap. With their combination of bolder styling, high-end in-cabin tech, and proven mechanicals, the Harrier and Safari Ultra Red Dark diesels strengthen Tata’s hand just as the SUV battle in this segment becomes fiercer than ever.
