Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Unveil Mumbai’s Largest High-Speed EV MegaCharger Hub

Tata Power and Tata Passengers Electric Mobility launch Mumbai’s largest fast EV charging hub, the TATA.ev MegaCharger, offering 16 simultaneous DC charging bays powered entirely by renewable energy.

Tata Motors has been integrating EV infrastructure over a period of time. With its subsidiary, Tata Power, making progress towards India’s sustainable mobility future. As the country's leading EV charging provider, a collaboration with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. launched Mumbai's first premium large-scale EV charging hub. This new charging station is built under the Tata EV Mega Charger initiative.

This new premium charging station is located near Terminal 2 of the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel. Under the initiative of Tata EV, the Mega Charger hub is especially designed to serve the city with sustainable green mobility. On World EV Day, the new charging station was inaugurated by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, and Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

Strategic Location Near Mumbai’s Aviation and Business Hub

As discussed earlier, the new EV Mega Charging hub is established at the premises of the authentic Leela Mumbai Hotel near the Airport Terminal 2. The decision to establish the EV charging station near this landmark is one of the tactical decisions by the brand. It comprises Andheri, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), and South Mumbai. This ideal spot caters not only to airport travelers but also to local commuters, business professionals, and tourists.

By situating a fast, reliable charging point here, Tata Power aims to meet the growing EV demand of diverse user groups seamlessly. This prominent space signifies the growing versatility of India towards sustainable green mobility. The Mega EV Charger hub has 16 charging bays that are available to private EV owners, ride-hailing fleets, taxis, and even logistics operators. With affordability and reliability, the hub will be operating 24/7 and powered entirely by renewable energy.

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure for Fast and Efficient Charging

Tata Power EV Hub

While talking about the state-of-the-art infrastructure, the charging bay is equipped with 8 fast DC chargers with speeds up to 120 kW. The facility offers 16 charging bays in total. These significant numbers make it one of the city’s largest and most advanced charging stations. This significant capacity eliminates long wait times experienced at smaller stations, ensuring an optimal user experience even during peak hours. The facility’s round-the-clock availability caters to the urgent needs of professional consumers and airport users alike.

Powered by 100% Renewable Energy

This whole new Mega Charger Hub is a part of the Tata EV MegaCharger network. This network is a flagship initiative of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility & Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. With such collaboration, the charging station is open to all existing and new-generation EV users. This aligns with Tata Power’s broader vision of embedding ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ principles throughout India's EV charging ecosystem.

Tata Power Growing EV Charging Network

Considering the new infrastructure for the development of an EV charging station, Tata Power is making way for the upliftment of the EV journey for tomorrow’s youngsters. As per the reports, the brand has so far constructed 5500 public and captive EV charging points, more than 1.4 lakh home chargers, and 1,200-plus bus charging stations across 630 cities and beyond.

In Mumbai alone, there are over 1,000 charging points. Tata Power’s aggressive scaling strategy aims at installing 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by the end of 2030.
