The teaser video showcases a more assertive front fascia, redesigned lighting signatures, and a connected tail-lamp bar, indicating that Tata aims to visually align the Punch with larger nameplates, such as the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. Let’s take a tour of what the new Tata Punch looks like
What’s New in the Teaser?
Expected Design
In the latest teaser, the facelifted Punch gets a completely reworked nose featuring slimmer grille treatment, sharper LED DRLs, and vertically stacked headlamp units integrated low in the bumper, a layout clearly inspired by the Punch EV. The bumper itself is new, with more sculpted black cladding, dual air-intake slits, and air curtains at the corners, framed by a silver surround for the enlarged central air dam.
The new frontal signature also incorporates piano black elements around the DRLs and polygonal headlamp framing, tying it into Tata’s current design language seen on the Harrier and Safari facelifts. The teaser unit is finished in a fresh shade of blue, hinting at an updated exterior color scheme that will likely be complemented by dual-tone roof options on higher variants.
New Rear Design Highlights
Expected Rear Design
At the back, the Punch facelift moves to a connected LED tail-lamp layout with blacked-out inserts, echoing the treatment already seen on the Altroz and newer Tata SUVs. The teaser shows a horizontal light strip spanning the width of the tailgate, visually widening the car and adding a more premium, tech-forward look. Though overall proportions and silhouette remain unchanged, subtle revisions to the rear bumper and tail-lamp graphics help distinguish the facelift from the current Tata Punch.
Updated Refreshed Interiors
While the teaser focuses on exterior design, earlier spy images of the facelifted Punch suggest a substantially updated cabin with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster on higher trims. The model is also expected to adopt Tata’s latest two-spoke steering wheel and improved connected-car and OTA-capable infotainment suite, similar to newer Tata offerings.
Feature upgrades are likely to include six airbags as standard and the addition of advanced assistance tech such as a 360-degree camera, with some reports even indicating the presence of ADAS on higher variants.
Under the hood, the Punch facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.2-liter petrol engine, paired with 5-speed manual and AMT options, along with the CNG derivative that caters to cost-conscious buyers. Tata is not expected to alter the basic powertrain package.
The petrol powertrain might produce around 88 HP of power and 115 Nm of torque, while the CNG offers 73.5 HP of power with 103 Nm of peak torque. The updated Punch will be unveiled on January 13, with market launch to follow shortly after, and is expected to command a modest premium over the current model’s pricing.
Conclusion
The Tata Punch facelift teaser promises a bolder, tech-enriched evolution, blending sharp styling cues from Tata’s SUV family with enhanced safety and connectivity features. This refresh unit solidifies the Punch’s dominance in India’s micro SUV arena, blending affordability with premium appeal for discerning buyers.
