Tesla expands services, charging network and new models line-up in India
Tesla boosts India presence: launches a six-seater, Model Y L (681 km range), and expands service to four new cities, adding Superchargers on highways linking Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Tesla will expand its service, body shop, and charging network in India to support its growing customer base. The company plans to add new facilities in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad in the coming quarter, according to Sharad Agarwal, Tesla’s country head for India.
Key Highlights
- Tesla to expand service and body shop network in four major Indian cities
- Five Supercharger stations now operational, including Navi Mumbai with 250 kW charging
- Model Y L launched with six seats and up to 681 km WLTP range
- The direct-to-consumer sales model allows online orders and nationwide delivery
- Tesla deliveries began in September 2025 and now cover 21 Indian states
Service and Facility Expansion
Tesla currently operates three experience centers in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram. It also has service centers and delivery hubs in Delhi-NCR and a recently opened facility in Pune. The new expansion will bring Tesla’s presence to more cities, aiming to provide better support as deliveries increase across more states.
Tesla’s approach to service differs from traditional automakers. The company can resolve many issues remotely through software diagnostics and updates. Agarwal stated that customers often do not need to visit a service centre, as most problems can be fixed remotely. This strategy is intended to offer convenience and peace of mind to a wider customer base.
Charging Network and Home Charging
Tesla has established five Supercharger stations in India, including a new site at Navi Mumbai. This location is the first Tesla charging facility inside a shopping mall in the country. The Navi Mumbai site features four Superchargers, each offering up to 250 kW charging capacity.
The next phase of expansion will connect major cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai through Supercharger corridors. Tesla also plans to increase destination charging points within cities. Home charging remains a key focus, with Tesla able to install charging infrastructure across 28 states, supporting customers nationwide.
Direct-to-Consumer Sales Model
Tesla operates a direct-to-consumer sales model in India. The company does not use traditional dealerships. Customers can order vehicles online, and Tesla handles deliveries directly. Agarwal emphasized that Tesla does not rely on widespread physical retail infrastructure, allowing customers to order from anywhere and receive delivery at their doorstep.
Model Line-up and Deliveries
Tesla recently launched the Model Y L in India, making it the third variant in the local lineup. The Model Y L is a six-seater, long-wheelbase version of the Model Y, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 681 km. Tesla began deliveries in India in September 2025 and has delivered vehicles across 21 states. However, volumes remain limited because all Tesla models are fully imported and subject to high import duties.
CarBike 360 Says
Tesla's strategic expansion of service centers, Supercharger corridors, and the family-focused Model Y L variant signals a committed push into India's burgeoning EV market. Priced competitively at Rs 61.99 lakh with up to 681 km range, these moves address key adoption barriers like charging anxiety and after-sales support, positioning Tesla to challenge luxury rivals and drive sustainable mobility forward for Indian families and highways alike.
