New Experience Center and Services
The Whitefield center allows customers to view and test drive Tesla vehicles. Tesla has also started after-sales service operations in the area, providing support for existing owners in Bengaluru. This center is Tesla's fourth retail location in India, joining existing experience centers in Mumbai's BKC district, Delhi's Aerocity, and Gurugram.
Tesla entered the Indian market in 2025 with the standard Model Y. Since then, the company has expanded its retail, service, and charging infrastructure in major cities. Whitefield was chosen for its concentration of multinational technology firms and a large base of high-income professionals, making it a key commercial hub in southern India.
Model Y L Launch and Features
The Model Y L is a new three-row, six-seat variant of Tesla's Model Y. It is priced from ₹61.99 lakh and is designed as a family vehicle. The Model Y L adds a third row to the existing two-row configuration, with a focus on headroom, legroom, and comfort for all passengers.
The Model Y L offers a claimed range of 681 km on the WLTP cycle. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. When the rear rows are folded, the vehicle provides a total cargo capacity of 2,539 litres.
On safety, the Model Y L has received a five-star rating from ANCAP, the safety assessment body for Australia and New Zealand. Both the Model Y L and the standard Model Y have also earned top scores from NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, and CIASI in China. Tesla describes these vehicles as benchmarks for safety, efficiency, and performance.
Charging and Market Context
The Model Y L is compatible with Tesla's Supercharger network, which can deliver up to 288 km of range in 15 minutes. Tesla also provides home charging support for Indian buyers, making the vehicle suitable for daily commutes and longer trips.
India's electric vehicle market has grown steadily, although the premium segment remains small compared to mass-market options. The government has adjusted import duties for electric vehicles, enabling global manufacturers like Tesla to price vehicles more competitively. Tesla plans to introduce strategic models in sub-4-meter and mid-size categories starting in 2028.
