The 2026 Honda ZR-V unveiled as flagship SUV for India with hybrid powertrain
Honda ZR-V debuts as a premium hybrid SUV for India, combining efficiency, modern features, and a bold design to strengthen Honda’s SUV lineup.

Honda Cars India has brought the all-new ZR-V e:HEV to India, giving the brand a fresh premium hybrid SUV to sit above its regular lineup. Positioned as the company’s new flagship SUV for India, the model arrives with a strong focus on design, efficiency, and advanced technology.
The ZR-V’s India debut is part of Honda’s wider push to strengthen its product portfolio, and the SUV’s global track record adds weight to that ambition. Honda says the model has already crossed 8 lakh units in cumulative global sales since 2022, underlining the appeal of its hybrid formula.
Exterior and Design Features

The 2026 Honda ZR-V is built around Honda’s “Brilliant Liberation” concept, which the company says blends style, individuality, and driving confidence. In simpler terms, it is meant to feel both sporty and sophisticated, with the elevated stance of an SUV and the road manners of a more driver-focused machine.
The ZR-V’s design leans into a sleek, clean, and premium look rather than the heavy styling cues seen on many SUVs today. It gets a vertical-slat black grille, slim LED headlamps, sequential turn signals, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a body-colored tailgate spoiler, all of which help give it a sharper road presence.
In terms of dimensions, the ZR-V measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height (unladen), with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. These dimensions place it close to competitors like the MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
Interior and Features
Inside, the cabin follows an all-black sporty theme with soft-touch materials, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. The feature list is topped by a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and a hands-free power tailgate.
The SUV features a 3-spoke steering wheel, physical buttons and knobs for climate control, and soft-touch materials around the centre console. The traditional gear shifter is replaced by buttons for a cleaner look.
Key features include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, an 8-way powered driver seat, a 4-way powered co-driver seat, a powered tailgate, an air purifier, and a panoramic sunroof.
Safety and Powertrain

Honda has equipped the ZR-V with its Honda SENSING suite, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Auto High Beam. It also gets eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, driver attention monitoring, hill descent control, hill start assist, and vehicle stability assist.
The India-spec ZR-V will come with a strong-hybrid powertrain featuring a 2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a dual-motor setup and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Four drive modes are available: Normal, Sport, Eco, and Snow. Honda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
Market Outlook
The SUV will be imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit and offered in four colors: Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl. Bookings are open at Honda dealerships across India, while deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026.
