As Diwali approaches, major automobile brands in India are gearing up to launch new models or generations of their popular models in the market. Following the same trend, Volkswagen plans to launch a new 7-seater premium SUV in India during the Diwali festive season, possibly by October 2025. This upcoming Volkswagen SUV is named Tayron and categorized as a full-size SUV.

According to the sources, the Volkswagen Tayron will be positioned as a successor to the discontinued Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. The model will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian. VW will assemble this all-new SUV in a CKD (or completely built unit) form at its Aurangabad facility.
Volkswagen Tayron Exterior
As per the available data, the India-spec Tayron will measure 4,539 mm in overall length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, while it will have a wheelbase size of 2,680 mm. The global-spec variant of this 7-seater SUV measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width, and 1665 mm in height. Overall, the India-spec model will be comparatively smaller than the global-spec model.
Volkswagen Tayron Interior
Like the R-Line model, it will feature an all-black theme inside the cabin. The dashboard will pack a 15-inch floating infotainment system with a 10.25-inch driver display. The SUV will also sport a 3-spoke steering wheel, 30-color ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, colored head-up display, three-zone climate control, and an 8-speaker sound system.
Volkswagen can also offer dual-wireless phone chargers, massaging front seats with lumbar and ventilation functions, front and rear parking sensors, and 360-degree cameras with blind spot monitoring.
Volkswagen Tayron Powertrain
The VW Tayron is expected to come mated with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, producing an impressive 150PS and 360 Nm of peak torque. It will be configured with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. This setup is also available in the Tiguan R-Line, accelerating 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and providing a top speed of 229 km/h.
However, the top speed and acceleration of the Volkswagen Tayron will be slightly on the lower end, given its increased curb weight. In the global markets, the full-size premium SUV is available in a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 150 PS and another 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 204/265 PS.
