Yamaha has officially entered India’s premium electric scooter segment with the launch of the Aerox E, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh in select cities.

Yamaha Motor has launched the Aerox E, a high-performance electric scooter, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.81 lakh in Delhi. The new model is available in select urban markets through Yamaha's Blue Square retail outlets. The Aerox E is developed in India and targets urban commuters seeking advanced electric mobility solutions.

Key Specifications and Features
The Yamaha Aerox E uses a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that delivers 9.4 kW of peak power and 48 Nm of torque. This setup enables the scooter to reach a maximum speed of 95.5 km/h. The powertrain is supported by two removable batteries, each with a capacity of 1.5 kWh and 30 Ah. Charging each battery takes about 3 hours and 10 minutes. Under standard test conditions, the scooter offers a certified riding range of 117 kilometers.
Riders can select from three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. The scooter also includes a reverse gear and a temporary acceleration boost function. Yamaha provides a standard warranty of 3 years or 30,000 kilometers on the battery assemblies.
Safety, Technology, and Connectivity
The Aerox E features front and rear disc brakes, single-channel anti-lock braking, and an integrated traction control system. These safety features aim to enhance rider confidence in urban environments. The design retains the maxi-scooter proportions seen in the internal combustion engine Aerox lineup.
The dashboard includes a 5-inch colored thin-film transistor display that supports turn-by-turn navigation. The scooter connects to the Y-Connect mobile app, enabling riders to track maintenance schedules, locate the last parked position, and access automated diagnostic logs. Additional features include an external battery charging port and a passive smart key entry system.
Industry Context and Future Outlook
Yamaha's launch of the Aerox E aligns with broader trends in India's electric vehicle sector. N Chandrasekaran, chairman of the company, has announced a five-year automotive investment plan totaling about Rs 2.6 lakh crore.
In addition, an IESA report highlights rapid expansion in battery manufacturing within India. This growth could strengthen the supply chain for electric vehicles and support the adoption of new models like the Aerox E in the coming years.
