Tragedy Strikes Delhi's Terminal 1 Airport: Roof Collapse Claims One Life, Injures Five

New Delhi, June 28, 2024: A devastating incident occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 1 departure area when a portion of the roof collapsed, resulting in the death of a cab driver and injuring at least five others.

Eyewitnesses reported that a pillar collapsed, causing a section of the roof to cave in, trapping several people underneath. The deceased cab driver was reportedly standing near the pillar when it collapsed.

Rescue teams and airport authorities rushed to the scene to evacuate the injured and clear the debris. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Flights from Terminal 1 have been suspended temporarily, causing chaos and disruption to air travel. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates on flight schedules.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and maintenance of the airport's infrastructure, with many calling it a "national shame". An investigation into the incident has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse.
