The Design

Jawa 42 is a magnificent work of art and engineering. You have premium Italian engineering pairing with the elegant curves and sleek lines resulting in an uncompromisingly robust design. The Jawa 42 is a massive bike with 2122 x 790 x 1165 mm and a wheelbase of 1369 mm. The bike weighs around 172 kg and comes with a 14L fuel tank. The 90/90 R18 multi-spoke alloy front wheel and 120/85 R17 rear wheel gives the bike a dominating presence.

Like the Jawa 42, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is available in single-channel and dual-channel ABS versions with similar configurations. The Royal Enfield, with its timeless design, delivers the ultimate riding experience. The Royal Enfield 350 is slightly bigger than the Jawa 42 at 2160 x 790 x 1090 mm with a wheelbase of 1370mm. However, it is a heavier bike as it weighs around 190 Kg and features a 13.5L fuel tank. The 90/90 R19 front and 110/90 R18 rear tyres lend optimum stability and make the vehicle one of the most dependable bikes around.

The Engine – Power and Handling

The Jawa 42 runs on a powerful 293cc single-cylinder 4-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC DS6-compliant engine capable of producing maximum power of 27.33ps and torque of 27.02Nm. This engine pairs with a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox to deliver a magnificent experience riding it.

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 has a more powerful 346cc single-cylinder 4-stroke air-cooled engine that delivers maximum power of 19.8hp and 28Nm torque. This vehicle mates with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Safety Features

The double-cradle frame lends stability to the Jawa 42. The vehicle comes equipped with a telescopic hydraulic fork suspension at the front and a gas canister-twin shock hydraulic suspension for the rear wheel to absorb all kinds of shocks. The front wheel gets 280mm disc brakes, and the rear 153mm drum brakes with ABS to ensure stable braking performance.

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 features disc brakes on both wheels, with the front brake 280mm, and the rear 240mm. Both the variants come with ABS to ensure high-quality braking. In addition, the telescopic 35mm fork suspension for the front wheel and twin gas-charged shock absorbers for the rear make it a highly dependable vehicle to ride on the most challenging roads.

Variants and Pricing

The Jawa 42 comes in one variant in six attractive colours. However, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is available in five colours.

The single-channel ABS Jawa comes at Rs 169,415, and the dual-channel ABS at Rs 178,357 (ex-showroom, Delhi). In contrast, the single-channel RE Classic 350 comes at Rs 203,198, and the dual-channel at Rs 212,725.

Verdict

The Jawa 42 and RE Classic 350 are magnificent bikes that deliver an unmatchable riding experience. While the RE Classic is more expensive than the Jawa 42, both vehicles are equally powerful in delivering high-quality riding.
