Classic 350 vs. MT 15 Comparison

Nothing can be more rewarding than cruising on your bike on the highways as you venture on your adventure expeditions. When you have a companion like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, you can be sure that you are in safe hands. However, if you find the heavy Classic 350 challenging to handle in city traffic, the Yamaha MT 15 can prove to be an ideal competitor as this bike combines the traits of being hyper naked and extremely agile to handle simultaneously.

The Design

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 comes in two versions, Single Channel and Dual Channel, depending on the ABS features present in the vehicle. Otherwise, the physical design and other features are the same. It is a heavy bike weighing nearly 196 Kgs while displaying dimensions 2160mm x 790mm x 1090mm. The high ground clearance of 135mm and its circular headlamps are distinctive characteristics of the Classic 350. Generally, it features a single-seat arrangement, but users can attach a pillion seat as an accessory.

The Yamaha MT 15, with its bi-functional LED headlamp, has an intimidating appearance. The upright forks give this naked bike a beast-like stance accentuated by its muscular fuel tank, short rising tail, radiator side fins, and front winglets. The rider sits upright, as the MT 15 offers a perfect uni-level seat with a grab bar for the pillion rider. The multi-functional LCD instrument cluster provides all the info you need while riding. Dimension-wise, this vehicle is smaller but has a higher ground clearance of 170mm, while weighing considerably less at 138 Kg.

Engine – Power and Handling

The Classic 350 is a comparatively powerful motorcycle, with its 346cc single-cylinder 4S air-cooled engine pairing with a 5-speed transmission system. The BS6-compliant engine produces excellent power of 19.1bhp and maximum torque of 28Nm. In addition, this bike has a dual-start mode with the facility of electric ignition and a kick start.

The Yamaha MT 15 is future-proof, courtesy of its BS6-compliant 155cc LC 4V engine with a high-performance VVA system to provide torque even at low RPM. The A&S Clutch reduces the clutch pull weight and enables easy shifting during deceleration. In addition, the MT 15 comes with a 6-speed transmission system that allows riders to cruise at low RPM even in the higher gear to save fuel.

Safety Features

The Classic 350 comes with single-channel or dual-channel ABS, depending on the model you select. This bike offers options of spoke and alloy wheels. Depending on the wheel type, the tyre size varies from 19-inches to 18-inches. The vehicle features disc brakes on both wheels to produce excellent braking, even on slippery roads.

The Yamaha MT 15 offers single-channel ABS with disc brakes on both wheels. The 140mm wide radial rear tyres give the rider excellent grip and confidence. Another excellent feature is the inbuilt side stand engine cut-off switch that ensures the engine does not start with the side stand in position. Thus, it helps prevent unnecessary accidents.

Colour Variants and Pricing

The Classic 350 is available in a range of five metallic colour combinations. The single-channel version comes at Rs 2.03 lakhs, whereas the dual-channel is available at Rs 2.12 lakhs.

The Yamaha MT 15 is available in four colours, and the pricing ranges from Rs 1.45 lakhs to Rs 1.48 lakhs depending on the colour choice.

CarBike360 Says

While the Classic 350 is an excellent motorcycle for long cruises on highways and adventure expeditions, the Yamaha MT 15 is better suited for everyday city driving. Hence, it depends on individual choice.
