Classic 350 vs. YZF R15 Comparison

You can judge a motorcycle’s performance in various ways, such as ruggedness when traversing challenging off-road terrain or speed and stability in a race track-like environment. For example, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a solid performer when judging off-road performances, whereas the Yamaha YZF R15 easily comes out trumps on speed and flexibility while riding.

The Design

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a magnificent bike with an extended wheelbase of 1370mm. The overall 2160mm length and 1090mm height make this bike look magnificent. The round headlamp and ergonomic handles add to the overall attraction feature. The 13.5L fuel tank is a stand-out feature that adds to the elegance. The single-seating function makes this bike unique and the best heavy-duty vehicle to take on your mountainous expeditions.

If the Classic 350 is a single rider version, the Yamaha YZF R15 offers the luxury of having a co-passenger riding with you. Specifications-wise, the YZF R15 is a smaller vehicle with an overall dimension of 1990 x 725 x 1135mm. The wheelbase of 1325mm is ideal for a compact bike. This bike weighs less at 142Kg, making it considerably lighter than the Classic 350. The aerodynamic LED tail and headlight enhance overall visibility.

The Engine – Power and Handling

When you look at a sturdy off-road bike, you need a powerful engine. So the Classic 350 features a robust 346cc single-cylinder 4S twin-spark air-cooled engine that pairs with a 5-speed constant mesh to deliver excellent mileage. This engine produces superior power of 19.8bhp and high torque of 28Nm. In addition, it features a transistorized coil ignition feature and an electric/kick start option.

The YZ RF15 runs on a BS6-compliant 155cc LC4V SOHC FI engine that delivers 18.6ps power and 14.1Nm torque. The high-performance VVA system provides easy torque even at low RPM. This engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission and comes with Assist and Slipper clutch for convenient riding performance.

Safety Features

The best aspect of the Classic 350 is that it features disc brakes on both its wheels. This bike comes in two variants, single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS. Depending on the model, the bike offers ABS to ensure high stability levels when braking on slippery roads. The twin-gas-charged shock absorbers with 80mm travel distance and telescopic 35mm front forks with 135mm travel distance make for a comfortable riding experience. In addition, the high-quality headlamps ensure sufficient frontal illumination to enhance the visibility quotient.

The YZF R15 offers disc brakes for the front wheel and drum brakes for the rear. The dual-channel ABS ensures precise braking even when the vehicle is speeding, without any lock-ups. The 140mm wide radial rear tyre gives an excellent grip on the road with superior shock-absorbing capacity. The Yamaha YZF R15 comes with an in-built side stand engine cut-off switch option to prevent untoward mishaps. The Deltabox frame provides the ideal balance even when negotiating sharp turns.

Colour Variants and Pricing

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 offers five different colour options. The single-channel model comes at Rs 2.03 lakhs, whereas the dual-channel model costs Rs 10K more.

The YZF R15 is available in four eye-catching colours and is available at an affordable pricing of Rs 1.57 lakhs.

CarBike360 Says

The Classic 350 is a much more robust vehicle than the YZF R15 because of its dominating presence and powerful 350cc engine. Therefore, it is ideal for long rides on the highway and in mountainous terrain, whereas the YZF R15 is good for the racetrack. Besides, it is a lighter bike than the Classic 350, making it ideal for city travel.
